Hi everybody ! I'm a new member to the forum , which I think is great, I live in Yorkshire, England and own a 2006 America...I have just been in my local triumph dealer and was asked if I had " tyre slime " injected into my tyres..I thought he was taking the p*"* , bur apparently this stuff prevents punctures.I would be interested if anybody has tried this stuff or even heard of it.....Mick

Some years ago I got a puncture at work so got a can of Walmart tyre seal and inflate, seemed a good way of getting home as it was only 15 miles on the freeway. The tyre lost air and the slime all the way home and was almost flat although I did only travel slow. The slime cobweb was all over me and the bike and 5 years later you can still find bit around the spoke nipples. Took it to the main dealer for repair and he was less than impressed as that stuff is nasty to handle so outdoors with rubber gl;oves was needed. Would I use it again, only if I was absolutely desperate and it had improved a lot. Could just be that walmart slime is rubbish. Have you signed up for the dent run? Should be the biggest america / speedmaster get together in the UK

Mick, hi,

I used to ALWAYS have the green slime (as used by the army) in my cars and bikes, even have it in my wheel barrow

In MY opinion its not really worth it:

1) On my car I put a bit too much in and the balancing went out

2) I did indeed get a puncture in my car and while it MAY? have slowed it down it did still go down

3) before you can have any tyre with it repaired you gotta get it ALL washed out

4) on a POSITIVE note you should never suffer a total blowout and that on its own may warrant installing it

thats my opinion on the green slime, as for the get you home pump up can with white stuff DONT USE IT

Once you put that in its going to be a NEW tyre, they WILL NOT repair it once its in there, and if you dont let them know its in there before they crack the tyre and the stuff goes all over them they will also charge you for that too.

O yea.. one other concern for me is:

If you have slime in your tyres and you do get say 2 or 3 nails in it that you wont know about as its still pumped up... does that increase the chances of high speed failure?

Something to think about.. and before anyone starts on me saying "we check our tyres daily" there are always going to be those times where you forget or just plain dont have time to.
