Well folks, guess what? We finally shipped the software that has been consuming my life for way more than a year. I have mixed feelings as there were some corners cut to get it out the door 8 months late.

Regardless, the grind is over and I am now back on a normal work schedule! Not working this weekend (two days in a row!) which will actually seem like a vacation. Not working any weekends for the foreseeable future either. Funny thing, my boss came over and asked us “Are you ready for R2 now? We only have 2 months before ship!” I told him to go F himself, with a smile. He started to laugh until he saw the look in my eyes and walked away muttering. We all think he has a miserable home life and never wants to go home. After meeting his wife, I see why. What a witch! *cough* with a B *couch*

So….. I have much more free time now and will be a lot more active here again. For some that might cause some consternation The first thing I am going to do with this time is go on a vacation!! Yep, we had booked a week in Alaska in anticipation and were holding our breaths in case it did not ship. I am very relieved that everything is working out. My sister-in-law and husband live in Sitka so we will be visiting them and seeing the sites. I can’t wait!!

Anyway, back to work for a bit and then it’s:

Welcome back, now at least we can blow off the rumors that we are running W.O. a big guy and were going to have to shut down. ( believe it or not, that's what I read). Enjoy your trip Phil. Sounds like it is a well deserved trip.

Good to have you back, you have been missed. Time to knock the rust of those rides and get back to it.

Good job Phil! Alaska sounds like a great place to get away and forget about work for a while. I hope you and Janet have a great time, you both truly deserve it.

Greetings from Sitka, Alaska!! Finally got their router working properly so I could get on the web

It's friggin beautiful up here but dang, it's cold for a Southern boy Been fishing, rode my B-I-L's 250 Yammie dirt bike , did some excellent hiking through a first growth forest and we are going fishing again in a few....

Did not bring enough clothes but what he heck, I am having a ball. Off to the king salmon grounds... Later all!

How are you adjusting to the 24 hour daylight? I was up in Anchorage for about a week a couple years ago around this time of year (work trip) and it was weird walking around at 11pm but the sky looked like it was around 6-7pm. One time I was thinking "why are all the stores closing, it can't be that late", until I looked at the time.

My step father is in Alaska right now fishing. He has to hike and boat in where he is though and he has not electric, phone or anything like that except a generator and ham radio. He goes every year.

Hey... now you're having too much fun! I'm jealous. Don't they have a Wal-mart in Sitka, so you can buy more clothes?

16 hours from Sitka to Ft. Liquordale yesterday... ugh.

Recovered last night with generous portions of adult beverages AND I have today off! I will post a few of the best pics later....

Greg, after the first night we had to cover the windows with a blanket so we could sleep. The non-stop sun was eerie at best and I never got used to it. 9:30-10pm Alaska time and the sun in 'just going down'? Having such a short time up there I also never acclimated and made the best of it but was very tired by 9pm their time.

Dog, I can only imagine your Dad is having a wonderful time! If he was there this past week, we had days where it was NOT raining and actually saw the friggin sun! On our travels we saw islands that had permanent homes where there was no power or water. I cannot imagine how tough their lives are but can understand why they were there.

I was lucky that my BIL took me out fishing twice in the week and although it was cold (I borrowed stuff from other people there), I had an excellent week.
