Quote:
I really have no right to comment since I drove drunk countless times during my misspent youth. I'm fortunate that I was never involved in an accident. I suppose it would even be some kind of ironic poetic justice if some drunk took me out. I can say now that I am 19 years sober that it makes me happy each time I see somebody successfully put the bottle behind them. I hope that this tragedy will serve as an example to the next parson who might make the wrong decision but I doubt it. I refuse to spend a moment considering Billy Lane's fate that would cut into any thoughts I have for his poor inocent victim and his family.
Hear, hear. Me, too. A DUI arrest cost me for years, both in legal fees and insurance premiums and I do mean years; I was just fortunate that I worked in an industry that allows mistakes if you show contrition, even luckier I didn't hurt anyone including myself. Still the last 14 sober years have given me a wider perspective and always the desire to offer a second chance to those who put the bottle behind them and do the right thing.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)
