Hey folks... It's been a while since I have posted here. Miss the place. I got a lot of good info from you guys. The sad truth is that my brother is currently enjoying my BA. The good news about that is I passed the info off to him and not now he is muckin around with my hard work I am back to start asking questions about moding the new BA for performance. My buddy just purchased an 08 Speedie. I am giving him a set of my TOR pipes that have laying around. Will I need to mod the FI with these pipes? Do you need a device like a Power Commander to do mods on the new bikes? is the AI system required for proper function on the new bikes?
So many questions.

A dealer can do a re-map, if you don't want to spend the money on a Tuneboy or Power Commander. There is a re-map for the TORs, and one for TORs without AI. I'm taking the AI out later today or tomorrow (soon as I can ride off more fuel to lighten the tank) and will get it re-mapped as soon as I can get to the dealer.
The AI is not required, except for emission standards. Some people, after removing it, say there's a slight improvement in performance, others say they don't notice any change.

I just spoke with a technician at my Triumph dealer today, who just came back from a triumph update school. Anyway, he told me that the triumph people informed him that taking the AI off Fuel injected bikes will actually make them run bad...no problem for carbs though...
Thank You and Good Night

Not if you bypass the O2 sensors (overide them in the ECU)
What it can't reach it spits at.

Finally got around to putting the TOR's on my 09 Speedmaster and they sound great after the $27 re-map. Thanks to all for the advice and especially to greentp99 for the TOR's.

A remap for under $30 sounds great. Did you know the guy or is that a standard rate?

Does anyone know what the remap does? I assume it is compensating for the increase in air flow with fuel. FrankG hasent changed the air filter yet. He has a K&N going in which should increase the air flow further. The service tech "Country Joe" said the map will compansate for the K&N. What if we put in the freak? will it need another mapping?
Also... I am pretty sure the cost of the re-map was the standard price... Which shocked me because they smack you for 150 at an HD dealer...

The freak air box removal is probably too radical for the TORs map to be able to adjust for - too much air. I may be wrong about this but I can't recall anyone who has successfully done a freak on an EFI. I am fairly certain it would require a custom map using Tuneboy for best results. Maybe try running with the TORS, Triumph TORs remap and K&N and snorkel removed (or replaced with a bellmouth).
BTW - I believe Triumph only have two maps - one completely stock map, and one for TORs (which everyone uses for aftermarket pipes - suiting some pipes better than others). There is no Triumph TORs map for no AI.
