My 2008 has a thin, 3/8" thick self-locking nut on it. The self-locking part of the nut didnt look to be grabing the bolt threads (by much anyway) and was not on by much more than snug. Put it back on with Blue Threadlocker juice.
The locking nut you get for it will have to be thin to clear the spring tab on the kickstand.
LanceD, my bike is on the jack so I went out and checked to see if the spring hit the nut when raising the kickstand. It cleared, but not by much. Would it be possible to bend those spring ends in just a little to clear the nut?
