He replaced the regulator and also ran a larger 12 gauge wire directly from the regulator to the battery post (fused with a 30A inline fuse) bypassing the too small factory wires in the harness. I believe he also replaced his starter as well since that was the first problem to crop up. We had quite a thread going when this was in progress...
