sounds like the guy I met at a RAT meeting a couple years ago... 
He was saying how he hates how some guys put pipes on these bikes and remove the air box. I asked him if it was cause he couldnt keep up with them and walked away. 
Made it a point to ride by him after the meeting. 
More power to you if you can resist the want to tinker and get more power and better sound.
Not this guy! Nope...no way. Me...I love messing with this bike. Its easy to work on and I cant wait to do more stupid mods like bored out carbs, cams, pistons and some headwork.
But most importantly...ride it.
