I want to know the other way around. Can you take the sissybar off and leave just the rack? I ride solo and sometimes I could use more storage space. I have a rack on the fender but it would be nice to be able to get more square footage to strap some extra crap on. Of course for that long trip, I'd put the sissybar on to stabalize packing stuff higher; sleeping bags , tent, etc.
Maby I need a side car with a flat bed and side rails.
