I did that for a while. It's not real convenient to pop the rack on and off the sissy bar. Once or twice a year is OK, beyond that you risk scratching the fender. I finally just removed mine and it's in my attic storage.

ArGee and Deon, that was what I was asking, if rack could be removed when not needed, leaving sissy bar in place. I couldn't quite tell from any photos I had found. I know the sissy bars are sold with and without rack, but didn't know if they were permanently affixed.

Benelli, only need the rack a few times a year, for 2, 3, or longer day trips. Most of the time we don't need it, and I don't like the look of it hanging out there, empty. With luggage or gear secured to it, it doesn't bother me.
