Did perhaps Triumph change our oil spec to 10w 40? (I hope?)
It used to be what, 15 - 50? 20 - 50? My short term memory is toasted, and I'm too lazy to go get the owner's manual.
I bought some Mobil 1 4T at a parts store chain yesterday. They only had 10W 40. I expect all would be well with using 10 - 40, but x - 50 wouldn't hurt my feelings for Summer riding.
Just curious.

My owner's manual (surprised myself that I even found it!) says "semi or fully synthetic 10W/40 or 15W/50 which meets API - SH or higher AND JASO MA.
JASO MA might be related to YO YO MA. I've never met either one but my AMSOIL has....

I DON'T like using 10-40 in the Florida summers, especially during stop & go city traffic during rallys. I am CERTAIN I used Mobil 4T, 15(20?)-50 the first time I changed oil, then had to settle for 10-40 the last time, cause I couldn't find the other. Now the last thread I've read here concerning Mobil 1, they don't, and appearently never did, make 15(20?)-50 4T?!? Am I really getting to that stage of life!?

My bike had Mobil 1 Racing 4T out of the dealer, I changed to Motul 10-40 Semi, and it ran fine, but not "as tight" as the 15-50 Full. The price difference didin't justify the 15-50 tho... The Mobil 1 was still perfectly clean @7k while the Motul was very over due and black at 7.5k
Mobil 1 : 90$/Gallon Motul : 35$/Gallon

Hi Taddy, I was told Mobil 1 was not designed for bikes so I've been using Motul

The Mobil 1 4T is for bikes but the regular Mobile 1 is not.

So I'm not losing it? Mobil 1 4T 15-50 does exist? I didn't see it listed on THEIR site, and the stores around here only stock 10-40?

Mobil 1 15/50 is not for motorcycles? oh, oh. What does that mean?

4 quarts should be just fine, and I don't see how the engine would know the minuscule difference between the two amounts, although posting this could start yet another "oil war"

I researched the oil thing. I spoke to a Mobile 1 tech on the phone. Both he and the dealor recommended the 15-50 Triumph Mobile 1. It was formulated with triumph's help for our bikes. They did not recommend the 20-50 v twin Mobile 1 sold at Autozone. That 15-50 is expensive but I am not taking any chances. The only other oil i would consider is Amsoil. It is premo by all accounts. I also am using the Triumpoh filter.
