Okay, a few questions. I have just begun Bonneville America shopping. It will be my first bike. I would really love to find one for around 5k if I could. Do you think this is possible?

As my last post indicated, I am in love with the black and silver paint scheme.

Also, if I decide to look into the 2008-2009, is the fuel injection a bit better for a beginner in terms of possible problems and maintenance?

And my biggest question. I live in Michigan, if anyone knows of good places to look in Michigan PLEASE let me know. I will probably be buying in late July, so everyone keep your eyes open for me if you can! Surrounding states are fine too, indiana, illinois, ohio,etc... Are there any good sites besides cycletrader, craigslist, ebay that I dont know of that may be better for finding my bonneville america? Thanks for all the help!

If you look in the classifieds...you will find a thread that says Bikes for sale on Craigslist/Ebay. You can get a good idea of what folks are selling their trumps for. Go to Kelly Blue Book for an idea of what market retail value is. Their are other resources as well if you look.

Good luck.

1. Yes , you can find one for around that
2. FI is good if you don't want to tweak like some of us do , but if ya like to play around with jets and such , get a carbureted model . The 5 K price range sorta limits you to carbs .
3. There's usually 3 or four on eBay , do a fly and ride . That would be fun
4. Good luck !

You can get an EFI model for $5K, if you wait a few years.

You'll have a hard time finding a '08-'09 for that kinda bread, but there are always one or two earlier ('06 and before) BAs or SMs on Craigslist in the $4500-$6000 range.

Don't worry about FI... carbs are just fine, maybe even funner (that's just the way we talk up here in the land of Bob and Doug). And 5k will do it... a bought my 03 TBA with 1200 miles in Feb/09 for around that amount equivalent in Canadian bux. Good luck with finding yours.

my god . That is....words really dont adequately express what that is.

These have got to be the most beautiful bikes ive ever seen. How doesnt everyone who owns a bike over 6k have one? I just cant imagine turning one down in place of another bike.

Welcome ssavanna01 (that's almost like a stutter). I'm in Michigan too and happy to help you out with trying to find the TBA of your dreams. I'll keep my eyes peeled in my area (south central MI). Dealer will probably be tough because not a lot of these get traded in. And I agree with FJ that EFI is gonna be near impossible with the amount of cheese-because 09 is the only EFI model out there.

Save this link for July.
I have found and bought 4 bikes from cycletrader.
I think it's the best cycle search.
