As I recall you old fart -last year it was pretty cold out there. Every year I consider camping but I don't think my back could take sleeping on the ground.

I have a couple friends that have campervans and I'm probably gonna borrow one this year. That ground is awful hard on this 54 year old back.

Well the 7-10 day forecast is looking good. I will probably be coming out so I can blow up to Rochester to see my daughter at NTID ( great excuse for a third rally this year ). Can't leave till after work on Friday which means I can't be on the road till 3:00-3:30. I plan on riding as far on Friday as I can before dark and then finish up Saturday morning. Anyone know a good halfway place between Worcester Ma. and the rally? I usually stay off the highways as they are just not that much fun. I may go out through Bennington Vt. Anyone heading out from this way Friday afternoon?
My mind and body are still out of tune
I hope they run into each other real soon "

If you only knew how bad it is killing me not to be able to make the ride up this year! I see we will even have signs by Ed to guide us in! ****** I am bumming it! Why did they have to pick Pittsburgh for the G-20 Summit?

There's a really nice Wingate hotel in Rome, NY, near the Turning Stone Casino. It's about 3 hours from the park according to Google Maps, and about 4 hours from Worcester. (All on the Interstate. Your time may vary.) Google "Wingate Rome NY" for the web site.

There's an interesting airstrip in Rome too, once home to a SAC installation, and now home to NEADS, Northeast Air Defense Sector, a major player during the attack of 09/11. They pretty much had control of the airspace and potential to intercept that day. Lets just say the end result was a learning experience, with little if any prior US soils protocol to fall back on. The base had a role in Desert Storm as well " In Desert Storm, the wing's B-52s and crews flew 148 combat sorties for more than 11,000 flying hours dropping 6,274 bombs equaling 4,394,350 pounds of ordnance, while the KC-135s flew 1,100 sorties and transferred 100 million pounds of fuel. On May 9,1991, B-52G 58-0225 "Mohawk Valley" piloted by the Wing's Commander, Col.Mike Loughran, landed at Griffiss AFB for the last time to be preserved on base" For 10 points, and a big wet kiss, what concert of some note (no pun intended) was held there and when? (2nd place is two big wet kisses)

Gonna try to make it down. In July I had major surgery and then I went and pinched a nerve in my back. I can barely freakin move for the last week or so. I have been bedridden but will try my best to show up. But one thing is for sure, I will not be able to ride at all for another week to ten days so I am gonna have to cage it or not come at all.

I definitely do not need to swing as far north as Rome. I was thinking blowing out the Mass pike into NY then it looks like I could grab 396 at Beckers Corners right above Selkirk. Go 396 to 301 to 443 to 30 to 20. What is 20 like? It shoots right across NY. Getting out of work at 12:00 Friday so I'll be on the road by 1:00.
