T minus 7 hours and counting till Lynn and I depart for a Gordon-style jaunt to Port Orange. I tell ya, that 1.5 hour ride is as arduous as they get. Rolling up Useless one, fighting all the people wanting to hand us gatorade, the ear-deafening roar of tens of thousands clapping, and such. When we finally arrive at the Meyer's abode, Jennifer and Lynn are watching the kids while Ryan and I puff our chests out while we do the king of the hill beer drinking at the end of the driveway Yeah, right!
Can ya tell I might as well not go into work today?
Moe, I will be sitting by the pool while you work the Weber. You have a choice of gas or charcoal my friend. NY strip and shrimps for our pre-blast off dinner.

Question about the rally. If I don't make it to at least part of the rally this year, I truly suck! I live in Georgia after all. Here's the rub. With 2 little girls and job that keeps me on the road a lot I can hang-out with you gear-heads for a few days and sleep in the guest room for a few weeks, or split the difference, make it for a maybe one night and head home to keep the peace.
Is there any way I can hook up with you fine folks on the way down to Newnan, ride back with you shack up in Dahlonga for the night and head back home solo on Saturday?
I'm jonesin for a Dragon run, but no bags, don't own rain-gear, pretty much everything I ride with fits in my pockets!
Anyway, if it would be cool to catch up with you folks on Friday on the way down to Newnan let me know where I could rendeovous and I'll be there.

No Dragon Run this year, but the route Chy has for Saturday is very nice. 30+ cruisers on the Dragon on a Saturday with all the sport bikes and minis and other citizens would be less fun (IMHO) than what Chy has planned.
Why not bring the family up with you?

Sure man, we'd love to have you along. We'll be leaving from Dahlonega in the 8:30 to 9:00a.m. range heading south on 400 then 285w around the perimeter then 85 south to the Newnan exit (hwy34). Anyplace along the way would be fine just let us know where so we can look for you.

Sweet! I'll be coming down 75 from Acworth. It should be at least an hour from Dahlonega to 285W and I-75. There is a QT on E. Paces Ferry and 285. Could be fuel/rest/meeting up spot? Unless you have another rest stop scheduled, in which case I'll meet you there. I'm guessing you should be in that area around 10:15 - 10:30 AM ?

mmmm, hot Yota breakfast. I think I saw a movie like that once where this girl answers the door and....ah never mind you guys probably wouldn't like it anyways.
You guys will have to swing by here on your way back, I am south of Detroit (try having the southerners figure out how Canada is south of Detroit). I owe Matt that Windsor-strip-club-rally that we talked about last September at your place. If Jane won't let you come you can sit in the parking lot and watch our bikes.
All kidding aside, everyone have a safe ride (err, for Benny drive ) down, while you're there and on the way back. My best wishes for no rain for everyone.

Holy Cow John, I was about to say, if you haven't left yet, you'd better get a move on. After all, with our crack border security, it'll take you AT LEAST an extra 15.5 seconds coming over the bridge through customs at Windsor...

Thanks for the offer, this is the first time in a long time I haven't been tied to a clock or a schedule, which is what prompted the wing-it thought. Man this sucks! I'm sitting here at work, my minds not here and I'm not there yet, and they keep asking me these stupid questions. See ya'll real soon here.

Chy: I am pretty sure it's Exit #18, Paces Ferry Vinings. Coming South on 400 you would head West on 285 toward Birmingham. You will go over I-75 and the Galleria, the next exit is Paces Ferry Road. The Home Depot Corporate HQ is on your right as your exiting. Make a left on Paces Ferry, head down the big hill and the QT is on your right before the rail-road tracks. I'll be there at 10:00 AM, on a snazzy Green TBA. (Maybe even with my new Rifle Solo Shield!)
Hey, if there is another place easier for you guys, let me know. I can meet you anywhere between 285 and Newnan. I don't want to be a pain!

Allright... how 'bout this... What I would like to do is get south of the perimeter before we stop. In '04 we got headed south on 85 and stopped at a Shell station off exit 64.. turn right off the exit and it's the first station on your right. That gave us time to regroup and walk around a bit before the last 20 minutes of highway to Newnan. It's either the first or second exit after getting on 85. Is that dooable for you? I hate to make you ride the perimeter alone but it would probably work best for us. Who knows, if we time it right we could meet on the way.

First arrival today! Snekeptp rolled in around 3:00 this afternoon.... with a very healthy bug collection. After hanging out for awhile, we rode up town for dinner then Di and I took the long way home out by the reservoir as Pete went to his room to get some rest.
Moe, Lynn and Ryan left out this morning and are probably in Commerce as we speak. Pat and the northern bunch headed out this morning as well so it sounds like tomorrows going to be a busy day.
And have any of ya'll seen a guy headed south in a green jeep wearing a motorcycle helmet?
And so it begins....

Hey Tbanga if you still need a rain suit I have an extra you can have, but if the power goes out and people start wanting you to get the electric back on it's not my fault. It's a Med/LG

This is the last time I am missing the rally. The one thing that sucks about owning your own business as it's impossible to take off time during the week. Too bad. Next year I'm there! Everyone have a great time. Be safe. Take some pic's.

The offer of accommodation at my place still stands. Take some of the risk of rain out of the equation. It will rain, I just chose to think it will only rain at night, after the rides.
