Greybeard:
"The Bonneville America name went away in '03 instead of '04. It officially went away when the '03 model year began, but it unofficially went away after they used up the '02 side covers a month or two after '03 production began."

2004 unofficial:
Bonneville America name starts its phase out from Bonneville America to "America"

2005
Speedmaster gets the 865cc engine

The 2007 model year for the Americas and Speedmasters flipped the aesthetics, i.,e. they swapped looks. With hindsight, this model year was the second to the last step towards EFI. All that was lacking chassis-wise was the fuel tank.

2007
America gets:
* Increased engine capacity from 790cc to 865cc (55.00 HP, 69.00 Nm)
* Reverse cone silencers
* New cast wheels
* Fork stops are 10mm closer together
* Adjustable clutch and front brake levers
* Black engine with chromed covers
* Restyled chain cover, pillion, footrest hanger & upper fork shrouds (tapered)
* Revised, more comfortable pillion seat

Speedmaster gets:
*New cast wheels
*Restyled chain cover, pillion, footrest hanger & upper fork shrouds (tapered)
*Slash cut silencers

2008
Stateside: America and Speedmaster both get ready for fuel injection.
Across the pond: Both models get Multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection with SAI
*New, 5.1 gallon fuel tank with new chromed badges

2009
