Okay, that was a one hour exercise in frustration. I had it on, but the throttle bound at the very end of movement (Wide open). So, I'm starting from scratch with these questions: 1. There is almost no room to slip in the rubber strip from the front. I put it in from the rear, but it doesn't seem to be making contact with the set screws. I think they are up against the chrome grip housing. Is that strip put in from the front? If so, tips are appreciated. 2. The release cam doesn't seem to be high enough, so I put on the cam extension - are you guys using it? 3. The distance to the lever pivot bolt doesn't seem right, so I added that extra block longer screw. Are you guys using it? Any detailed pix of the installed unit would be highly appreciated. Particularly from where it secures to the lever pivot bolt.
Geez, seemed simple enough......

The block..yes. I had to use it. Mine also was binding but it was cause i had it in the wrong position on the lever. If the brakeaway moves when you pull your lever its wrong....look again. ill post a pic when i get home.
I dont remember how i got the rubber thing on but you have to use one.

SS.... Don't give up! I had my unit off and on twice before I got it right..yes to the longer block and cam extension. Put the rubber strip in the back side of the unit and slide the whole thing on as one. Don't forget the soapy water. Don't over tighten anything. It's late here, so I'll get you some pix tomorrow morning and I'll read through the instructions to refresh my memory so I can offer some better insight. Once properly installed, the Breakaway works like a charm.

Ok...as promised...pictures. click here for all picturesYou can view it in a slideshow to get an idea of the motion. Play it backwards and fast. Some pics of the things we talked about: When set, the lever should align so that when its pulled in it hits the black thingy and pushes it down, releasing the lock. This takes very little pressure. When not set the lever clears the black thingy but only by about 1/8th or 1/16th. A view from underneath. If you have the adjustable levers make sure you use the correct bolt... If you need to file down the grip this will give you an idea of where. Of course you need to go all the way around. That little curve can cause the assembly to slide away from the grip. Im sure it would still work but it would look funny. I like mine flushed and moving without any "wobbling" in the movement. Good luck tomorrow! I hope these help you out. Oh...read through the instructions a few times, be patient. The instructions are actually very clear when all this starts to click...untill then its not so fun.

Zed: Thanks a million. I'll give it another try tomorrow. I just got home this evening from a 200 mile ride and perhaps I should have just chilled out a little before jumping into this. I think my grip may need some modification as we desecribe to get it to set correctly. I appreciated the opportunity to talk to you on the phone as well, sometimes I need a little more than the web. I'll give it another shot tomorrow. Quote:

It's done and works fine. Wow, that is one fussy SOB to install. I got it to work without modifying the Kury grip, hopefully it will hold. But for now, working like a charm. Thanks for all the input and pix, that helped a lot this morning. Quote:

COOL! Glad you got it on with little issues. Not only are you one of the "cool kids" with the Kury grips but NOW...now you are one of the "ultra cool kids" with a brakeaway.
