Spit has been reccomended for bugs. Hock a loogie right on the bug, let it soak for a bit to loosen it up, then something soft should do it.
Before a long ride, I grab a handful of eye glass cleaners the wife has. They look like handi wipes and are safe on whatever. Work well on laptops too. One or two in the pocket, a couple more in the bags. Done.
