Ben, where are you in Florida? If you are near or around Daytona, stop by and see me!
Valves are checked! Airbox is modified! Getting closer and closer to lift off!
Moe, I'll be in touch today about our plan. Let's see, saddle up, wonder how Phil is doing in his comfy condo. Ride, ride, ride.

I'm leaving here on the 26th to head up to the condo. I hope to get together with a couple of the guys from here while there! Cool story...., while in Daytona, standing on the sidewalk watching the sea of humanity roll by one night, I got to talking with this guy. Turns out, he is a LEO from Banner Elk (where the condo is)!! Even though he rides an HD , we made plans to hook up while I am there. He knows EVERY friggin road around there!! I get 5 full days up in the NC mountains before heading to GA real early on the 4th. I hope to be at Chy's sometime in the early afternoon on that Thursday. I am getting so excited, I am about to jump out of my skin!!!!!!!

I'm coming down from ottawa, that's above eastern ny. total distance is a bit shy of 1,200 mi!es. i might join up with pat but sadly, it looks like the easiest route would be to catch I-81 at watertown ny and run down 900 miles thru scranton, harrisburg, roanoke and coming off the interstate in knoxville.
Is anyone else coming that way?

I know what you mean. Things are really starting to drag. And to top it off, I think my wife is trying to get rid of me- she has started counting down the days on the desktop calender next to the computer......19 days to go......

So who's arriving on Wed evening? I finally looked at a map and realized my Uncle's place in SC is actually farther than Dahlonega... So I'm thinking I could head straight to GA wed night and just visit my Uncle and the kids Sunday evening. Anyone arriving early? Anyone got a spare bed for one night? I'm all set to room with Kenny from Thursday on. Lemme know! Thanks.

Really Mike... wassup with whining about a little moisture. Man I've ridden in some nasty weather... One time coming home from work I got caught in a sideways rain, tree limb flinging gully washer... the water was so deep on the road I could feel it hitting the bottom of my boots. When I got home my leathers were so soaked I could hardly stand to dismount the bike. I waddled to the porch and emptied my boots and it was once again a sunny 90 degree day with 90 percent humidity. Man... you gotta love the south. And Evansville.. we left the restaurant that night, it was pouring rain... I mean buckets. That was the night Robert figured out what happens when you remove your front fender. He must've been throwing a 10 foot high spray of water. Crazy kids... I tell ya' ... kids today.. they got it made... In my day we didn't even have helmets or jackets and we liked it! Our bikes would stall in the rain and we'd have to push them... uphill... that's what it was like in my day...

Re-thinking my original tech suggestion of checking my valves. I have a manual now, so maybe I should just do it some rainy weekend when the bike is totally cold for sure, and my "helpers" aren't drunk
So... NEW idea. Changing my fork oil!! Whacha think? Bike doesn't have to cool as long, and I think taking one's front end off is an intimidating thing for most people, so maybe it would be a good thing to see. Sound good? Even with the progressive springs, I get a fair amount of fork dive, and I'm a big guy, so I'm thinking some heavier oil is in order.

I look forward to seeing and learning anything you guys come up with. Fork dive is an issue (small one) for all SM owners.
Chy,
Any idea of expected turnout? Are we there yet?

Spoke with Moe tonight as he was finishing up some of his final preparations on Vera. We are ready! Man, this week is crawling. Final tech. tuneup for me is Saturday followed by some intensive yard work. The entire next week will be packing and re-packing, just for fun.

Hello efferbuddy,
I've just sent out the final update for the rally but of course I didn't say everything I wanted to say
Met some nice folks over at Machines in Motion in Cumming on Saturday.. Myra and Eddy. They are a Suzuki and Ridley dealer (and sumpin' else?) anyway.. they'll be receiving their first shipment of Triumphs before long making them very cool in my book... and my new best friends.
I've invited them out to ride with us so we may have some fresh meat.. er I mean new members show up. This year looks like the biggest ever if everyone shows.. it's gonna be a great weekend and a must see so bring your cameras. T-shirts should be ready this week (sorry.. no pockets) thanks again to Brent. Allrighty then... we'll be seeing ya'll soon.. anything I can do just call me, everyone should have my #.
Hey ya'll!...
Get used to it, that's how we talk where you're fixin' ta go.
Well it's down to 15 days and a wake up, (old army term), then it's GEORGIA RALLY '06! Time is really flying by as I rush around trying to get all those things done that I had successfully put off till now. Jeeez... these things I do for you guys....
I talked to Peter today.. Triumph Peter that is... he said he was looking forward to seeing us roll in on Friday. Touched base with the guy at Coweta Customs too.. gave him fair warning, hey.. they love us.. they just won't admit it.
What to expect? You'll get to meet Peter Carleo, customer service rep and pretty cool guy and pretty much just grab some pix and rattle their windows... literally... trust me, it's worth the ride just to make bunches of noise in front of the building. Okay, okay so my neck is just a bit red but that's just plain good fun.
We'll stop by Coweta County Cycles on the way out, probably hang out untill lunch time and maybe see if they have a Scrambler.. I'd like to check one of those out up close. Peter said they didn't have one there at corporate so maybe they will have one at CCC.
We'll eat lunch in Newnan, there are tons of places to eat really close by so we'll grab some food and rendezvous back at CCC to head for home from there. Hopefully we'll get lucky and miss the bulk of the traffic around Atlanta which should put us back in Dahlonega mid afternoon...ish...
Then it's Tech Time!.... Pat is going to single handedly install a Wiesco big bore kit in Bennys bike.. yeah~! in Bennys dreams, but I'm sure we can find some victims.. er subjects who will let us poke and prod their machines. The rest of us of course will stand around nodding knowingly.
We've got a res at El McGuays mexican restaurant just off the square at 7:00 p.m. ... good food... good people. Cinco de Mayo and they'll be celebrating so good timing on our part.
Saturday is a surprise... even to me... no seriously I've got a few plans in mind but I promise lot's of twisties and mountain scenery. Saturday night will be at home base, time to socialize and feast as some of us prepare for the long journey home. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for good weather and keep the rubber side down. Di and I are really looking forward to seeing you all, friends old and new.. well Di did kinda scream and go running through the house when I told her there were only 15 days left till the rally. But she's okay now....
Basic info once again:
Address: 709 Wash Rider rd. Dahlonega, Ga.
Dates: May 4th thru 7th, if you arrive early, come on by.. we'll be "receiving folk"(southern term) all through the week.
Maps, both local and area are available on the Dahlonega website. Mapquest knows where we live so just ask and they'll get you to our front door.

So who all is coming from the Northeast? Does anyone happen to be trailering? Call me Alice, and I know you will, but I've had some interesting health issues lately (happy to explain in person) so if the weather looks super miserable I may be driving the Jeep down. Just can't afford to get sick! And I have no access to a trailer, or spare cash to rent one right now, altho I still may look into it.

I am leaving at the crack of dawn on Thursday. Can you somehow leave Thursday? If I say pretty please? If a room for Thursday night is an issue, I know we can solve it!! I should be real near you around noon. It'd be great to hook up with you buddy! You are what, about 2 hours from Chy's?

Time to bring this back to the top. Is anyone going to be passing through the D.C. area, or within a hundred miles or so Wednesday heading south? If so and you don't mind someone tagging along let me know. Thanks Rob
