I have to say that College sure has changed since I attended back in the day.. My son just got three full semester credits for a week and a half trip to Paris! It is being offered under the guise of having something to do with his international business/MBA degree. I sure don't remember anything even remotely similar when I went to college, and believe me, I would have found it.. I now feel cheated somehow! So anyway, he had a blast, got to do some of the standard sightseeing including (of course) the night life in Paris and visited a few 'international' companies with headquarters over there. And got 3 credit hours for it. And for the almost $2K that it cost me to send him (airfare/hotel/meals/university fees/etc..), he brought me back a really cheesy "Paris" tourist cap and a 99 cent disposable lighter. Gotta love him, at least he thought about me for a couple of milliseconds Cheers, Brad

lol... what'd you expect, the Eiffel Tower? A cornerstone from the Arc de Triomphe? (actually that might have been appropriate :P) Some frilly french knickers perhaps? You're lucky he didn't come back saying "Dad? Dad who? Oh la la!". I'll bet he had the time of his life, and I'm as jealous as heck.

Good for your son Brad , However I remember a 3 credit class I took at UWSP in 197(?) called the "American Gangster". We'd meet one night a week and generally watch old movies about Al Capone etc. The teacher affixing large reels to something called a film projector. That was back when "films" actually consisted of film and you didn't watch movies on your Ipod, waiting for the bus. The other students were goof-offs and brought soda and popcorn. I, of course, had no time for such tomfoolery and was there for a simple education, to make the world a better place. I hope he passed jh

No.. actually, I wasn't really expecting anything, so I felt lucky that he even thought about it. Apparently, he did so at the last minute though, since the bag they came in was from the airport duty free shop, most likely as he was sitting around waiting for his flight to depart

Too funny.. reminds me of a class I took also.. Introduction to Film Art, back in the early 80's. Every other class was just watching a movie that showed some particular aspect of cinematography we had discussed the class before. It was a night class, so lots of us would bring dates and buckets of popcorn, sodas and other munchies.
But that's my point.. getting credit hours for watching and discussing movies is a far cry from getting credit hours for basically going on a vacation!! Where were these classes when we went to school? Short of those student exchange things, I sure don't remember any!
Cheers, Brad

Where to go with this one. I sent my daughter on a 3 credit course to Paris, Germany and Belgium last summer. How did you get away with just $2K? Mine was about 50% more. She was gone for almost 3 weeks; but the professor was a native of France and they had to file daily reports on the events of the day and pass a final test on the flight back home.
4 years at college....too much to mention
3 weeks in Europe....priceless
Did I mention my daughter just got a job as the 7th grade Math teacher at a school about 15 minutes from where we live? I couldn't be prouder.

I put the key word in bold above, it's the difference between sending a son and a daughter!
