Having an intermittent problem where I shut the bike off to get gas or something and when restarting it only runs on the right cylinder. Let it set for about 10 minutes and it starts and runs fine. Doesn't happen every time just once in a while. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Check the primary wires at the coils. Mine would just fall off. I squeezed the connectors with pliers to tighten them up and make a good connection.
Unplug the pigtail into the ignitor and see how the connections look. Use dielectric grease when you reconnect all electrical parts.

I'm with Bill on this one. Typically I have little to no technical info to offer here... I am an avid listener but, I just had the same problem! Found a funky connection at the left coil, pushed in back into place and my trusty TBA was back in spades. Check it out...

I went thru a similar thing earlier this year, the right side spark would be lost after the bike had been stopped for 10-15 minutes and then be okay after a while longer. (thought that the ingnitor was going bad) In the effort to isolate the ignitor I tried swapping the coils right for left. In doing that I tightened all of the coil mounting screws and adjusted the fit of the HT wire to the coils. Diclectric grease on everything as well.
So far a couple thousand miles and no lost spark.

Had a similiar problem recently. It turned out to be the pick up sensor on the crank.


'06 TBA - Black, AI and Snorkel removed, K&N Drop In, Gutted Stock Pipes, 145/42, 2 turns out.

Everything seems to be tight, nothing loose. It hasn't happened again, but I think you guys have listed all the possibilities for me. Thanks. If the problem persists I'll try swapping out the coil with an extra my buddy has and go from there. I don't want to buy an igniter. Yikes!!!

I forgot about the sensor. At the time of swapping my coils I also adjusted the pickup sensor to the .8 mm specification. Seems the factory changed the spec from the 1.0 mm the old bikes were set to. This check/change will require a new gasket. And the torx screws that hold the pick up sensor are lock tited to the crank case and will strip out rather easily (I know this for a fact)
