Hello everybody!
Well the time draws near for the annual gathering of the Triumps. Georgia Rally '06! Hope ya'll are getting revved up and ready to roll. We had a great turnout last year and some fantastic weather to get the spring riding season off to a good start. The ride up through 19 across Blood Mountain then following 180 through Wolf Pen Gap to TWO campground was just too sweet. Only to be surpassed by Saturdays ride up 197 by Lake Burton ( Dinquas' comment? "So what's up with driving through the river back there?) to Hiawasse where we hooked up with the guys from the Bonnie site. All in all a fantastic weekend, we had lots of fun and got to hang out with some dang good folks. Looking forward to another great year and a chance to see some old freinds again and maybe make some new ones. May 4th thru 7th.. mark it on your calendar and get out all that really cool biker gear you've got laying around and get ready for a road trip.
Well here's what we've got going on so far...
Thursday will be the day people start arriving so that day will be spent making short local runs for food or refreshments and collecting wandering rally goers. We usually order pizza for supper (dinner) and generally hang out on the property. For those of you who don't know we have approx 4 semi secluded acres in the North Georgia mountains so bring your tent if you like.
Friday morning we'll roll out headed south on the slab.. yeah I know but trust me, you'll love the reaction you get to 20+ Triumps rolling down I85. The destination being Newnan Georgia, home of Triumph North America's corporate headquarters. Of course we'll have to take some pictures there and hopefully meet a couple of the folks from Triumph. Then we'll stop by Coweta Custom Cycles... Newnans Triumph dealer just down the road. Why? Cause it's just tooo cool when 20 Triumphs stop anywhere.. The GM asked us to stop by for a visit so we'll go ogle sickles and biker stuff till lunch time. After lunch we'll roll north hopefully missing most of the traffic and get our butts back north of the perimeter for some "Tech Time". Dinner this year will be at the local mexican restaurant, El McGuays. It's only a couple of miles from home base and we have spoken to Roberto the owner who says he'd love to have us and has reserved the auxillary dining room in the back for us.
Saturdays ride is still in the works... the weather has not been cooperating with me so I haven't been able to get out for much road therapy. Some of us did get together for a recon on Wayah road thru Franklin and Highlands North Carolina and it was a beautiful ride.. lots o' twisties but a little longer than I would like. There was also a good bit of gravel on Wayah rd but hopefully the spring rains will get it washed off soon. I plan to give it another go soon and check out some alternates as well.
Meeting the Bonnie site guys... unfortunately this hasn't worked too well as any of you who frequent that site may already know. We had hoped to get the groups together in Franklin for dinner(lunch) but it seems their plans are to arrive from different directions at around 2:30 p.m. to eat. As we are planning supper(dinner) at home base that night, we can't be that far north at that time of day so it appears we just can't put that together. Sorry.. I tried...
Saturday evening is the happy trails gathering where we can talk about the days rides and reflect on the weekends happenings.
Some head for home Sunday morning but for those remaining we will have a breakfast run where we'll invade some unsuspecting Waffle House reaking havoc and causing pandamonium... okay, okay.. maybe we'll just get something to eat and take a ride.
That's pretty much it as it stands right now, I'll let you know more when I do.
Pole Barn
A new addition is in the works for the pole barn..err I mean carport...kinda.. anyway, another 20 feet is in the planning stage and I'll see what I can do but no promises. Maybe I'll have it to 1st years rally standards(poles and plastic) by then.
T-Shirts
Brent at NewSpeedmaster is once again generously Providing the funds for the T-Shirts so if you haven't already told me the size you need please do so ASAP as I plan to order them the first week in April. Uh oh yeah and buy something from Brent, he's a heckuvva good guy.

What to bring
Your loved ones.. this is a family gathering
Raingear.. this is Georgia in the spring after all..
Helmets... " "
Warm jackets... it can be cool in the early mornings here.
Sunblock if you're of the pasty variety
Insect repellant if you are particularly tasty
And a good attitude.... the rest will take care of itself.
We're looking forward to another great year of running with the Trumps so take care out there and arrive intact. Nothing like a road trip to stir the soul so climb in the saddle and roll it on. I've heard someone say it's not so much the destination as it is the journey but in this case I'd say it's both. For those of you who have experienced the North Georgia, Tennesse valley and North Carolina area, you already know the magic this place holds and those who haven't owe themselves that experience. Stop... just a few minutes to take it all in... breathe deep and let it get inside you. You'll love it here.
Now.. the fun stuff... Riding thru the twisties with a butt load of other Triumphs.. pipes echoing off the trees, scaring small furry critters.. making little girls cry and doggies run for their lives! Seeing the citizens tremble in fear and the old men shake their fists feebly as we ride from town to town plundering and pillaging! .... Sorry.. I got carried away for a moment... anyway... tick tock tick tock.. times a wastin'. Got that road gear packed yet?
