I had heard about the new Honda Fury and had seen pictures and specs on-line, so I hopped on my Speedy after work yesterday and rode over the Honda dealer to take a quick peak. However, on the ride over, I realized just how well my trusty Triumph fit me, and I've decided to keep her. I'd also been considering the new T-Bird, but I think I'lll just get a big bore kit, put on a belt drive and keep what I have.
Anyone else have these same thoughts?

Pretty much, except that i don't want a belt drive. It's paid for. One more thing to love about it!

Agreed! My bike is running great and I could not part with her. I have had my 1969 Trophy for almost 30 years now and I won't be getting rid of my America any time soon either. They are part of the family!

Ya. I would never get rid of my Speedy. If/when I wanted another bike, I would have to just add to the family. Money is tough these days though, so I'd just have to figure it out or wait till the time is right.

My 04 Speedy is nearly paid for and I like it to much to trade. The T-bird is nice, but I don't like the colors. I would by a second bike the BMW R1200 GS adventure, but the money is just not there. Dave

My bike was paid for the day I brought it home, and with all the upgrades, modifications, and special touches done, I have my perfect bike and it still cost less than a Harley on the showroom floor. I will never be rid of this bike. I will add more to the stable though.

Any time I think about a new bike, it's another one added, not sell my Speedy and replace.

I stopped by a local Honda dealer to see the Fury as well. However, they were sold out of them and had deposits on the rest of the ones they were scheduled to get (anytime in the near future). Sooo I started just looking around and really became disgusted with the other bikes they had in the shop (Kawasakis, Suzukis and other Hondas). Made me REALLY appreciate my BA (despite all the problems I've been having with it). My BA looks better, handles better, gets more admiration and respect, etc... etc... Anyway, as I'm standing there waxing poetic about how lucky I am to own a Triumph the salesman walks back up and asks "can I sell you a bike today?"... I just looked at him and said "I ride a Triumph and you couldn't give me anything in here that would even come close to replacing it"... then I walked out.
Big bore, head port, upgraded carbs, clutch, etc.... here I come!

My 04 was paid for a couple weeks after I brought it home and paid cash for Wendy's BA. I would never part with mine either I have only even parted with 1 bike that was mine and that was my Suzuki GT550 triple 2 stroker. I traded it even up for my Norton that needed to be put back together but was still stock bore.

I guess it's the same story here.. My speedy just fits me perfect and I have no desire to trade for any other bike. I also don't have any desire to muck around with a big bore kit or belt drive. It works just fine the way it is Cheers, Brad

I love my America also, but I am curious if Triumph will try to squeeze that 1600cc into an America in a few years. Don you're always great for a laugh. Cheers brother

Even though I've had my share of problems (replaced coils/igniter and replaced casing due to starter failure), I absolutely love the bike and haven't seen one I'd rather have. That includes the T-Bird. I saw 4 different ones in Daytona.
Not sure how long this will last - going on 4 years now, but every time I ride I love the bike more. The BB added all the hp and torque are I could want and it's light, maneuverable, and looks great!

Well the look of my 2003 tba is how i think a bike should look . cant see any bike having that look even the new'er models of the tba dont with that tank would only change mine if it gets totaled. then it would have to be replaced with an old model of the tba .

It's all about market segments. Now they have a 1600cc bike. The America/Speedmaster is probably considered "entry level" in the Triumph board room (John Bloor's executive bathroom).

I'm looking at another bike, since I keep messing with mine, making it less passenger friendly, my wife suggested that we could get another, bigger bike, for our combined riding pleasure. Although I like the yamaha roadliner, I can't bring myself to buy a new Japanese bike, and if the thunderbird's made in Thailand I'm not interested. So I'm shopping American Iron. The German's just don't make anything I'm interested in.

I saw one of them Fury things earlier this week in person at my local dealer. They are a good looking bike when you consider its a mass produced chopper style bike built by Honda. There was something I didnt like...Oh....the air cleaner that stick out on the right side. I kept bumping my knee into it. As for my America...still paying but even Karen says that she can see me getting a Rocket III some day in addition to my America

Now there is a idea! Shoehorn a t-bird motor into a BA! Cale, you're a genius! By the way brother, on this day that we remember all who have served... thank you for your service to our country!

have to admit I had the stupid moment .... attended AZ Bike week, demo rode a harley deluxe/heritage and a few other bikes, went home and put my Triumph on Craigslist, the next morning got up to meets some buddies for a ride, while heading down the road, I realized I was never going to sell my bike, just needed to change the handlebars and I had the best.......please forgive me for my 1 minute of insanity.
