It's true, the new billet intakes are a lot more solid of a mount for the carbs, and you probably could get away with no brace on them, but why chance it. Mine are still braced from underneath with the newspeedmaster airbox eliminator. You may be able to call Sean at British Customs and buy a brace from him, they are anodized billet aluminum and it attaches to the rear motor mount to hold the carbs up.
