In!!! I marked the vacation days on the work calendar today and then see this post tonight. Looks like you'll be stuck with me for most of the ride Stew. I know Steve (aka Glazer) said he was thinking about it. Hope he decides in the positive. I think it'll be pretty cool to meet everyone. Oh yeah, a good long ride will be alrght too. Anybody else in the area thinking about it? Mikesr? Cbass?
Ride On!

Jean-Luc good to hear from you again. Nice to see you'll be coming down again. You just want a matching mug for the one from last year for furthest travelled, right?

Chy, I copied this from the Triumphrat.net forum. I assume we are going to try and hook up with the guys from NTBF again this year? Mike Quote:
"the Delphi forum is where all the planning is taking place. The dates are May 4th-7th. some are arriving early some are staying longer. Last year we had around twenty or so guys and we met up with about another twenty five BA. and speedmaster guys in Hiawassee, GA.
The majority of folks will be staying at the Tail of the dragon and others (like myself) will be staying at the Microtel in Robbinsville, NC. (800-771-7171). I got a room there for $44.95 a night (with AAA discount). Rooms book up quick so make your reservation now and if needed you can always cacell it later with no penalty. It's a real comfortable option just down the road from the Dragon.
You'll enjoy it. Everybody is friendly and likeminded. Lots of delphi guys show up including Mike from Bellacorse and iv'e heard that Brent from Newbonneville may be there this time. "

Count Tamara and I in... we're taking three days down and a week to get back... ahhhh Georgia in May... of course, I'm already not looking forward to the first day's ride. Michigan in May is still a bit chilly... See you all there!

That would be great, We had inquired earlier if they would be interested in a trip to Newnan but there didn't seem to be that much interest. I was hoping they would be doing the Dragon this year when I started planning the ride so maybe we'll be able to get together up there.

I just got all my ducks in a row this evening. Flight, hotel (EconoLodge) and car have all been booked. Yeah, I know... I'm a wuss for not riding/trailering but that's an awful long time to take off work (coming from TX) and the way I see it, I can ride any day. This meeting happens once a year....
I can't wait to meet ya'll!!!

This is not a done deal, but I wanted to get this out there before everyone books their rooms. My wife's company has a corporate "arrangement" with Econolodge that could afford us some very attractive rates. If y'all can wait until Wednesday or so to book, we may be able to get a real good rate. She cannot check until she gets back into the office tomorrow. If she can get a block, it could be as much as $8.50 in savings per room, per day.
Interested?

Great deal if you can swing it for us Ryan. That $8.50 can almost buy one beer at Georgia prices.

Should know tomorrow.
Hey, speaking of beer at GA. prices, what say some of us early arrivers secure a keg of Newcastle or something on Thursday, set it up in the pole barn, and drink it all weekend? I bet that beer store had kegs.
Just an idea!

Cheaper room sounds good, I'll wait. As for the keg...wouldn't Pat just drink it all? Not a bad idea though, would save us from having to run out to the store every night after the ride.

Oh right, the pot calling the kettle black. I do seem to have this recallection (rather hazy though) of you absorbing pretty much just as much brewski as me at a few events there smarty!
The keg is a great idea though. I would be happy to chip in my share as I know the good stuff is quite pricey. I would ponder about $100 for a 1/2 keg. But then would we need one for each spot? chy's house and the hotel?

If we get a keg do we need togas???? that could get ugly on the scooters with a cross wind..... so we may have a change in venues....cool, though I will miss the Raj mahal, the difference in price could pay for the keg.... and then the unveiling of Tsalgi's redesigned America.... can't wait Lee!!!! Chy and Di making sure everyone that can be there is there... Larry riding and cooking....the southern riding crew riding again...Brent making the trip over....The northern boys cruis'in down to show us how they do it up north and beyond , eeehhh, someone contact Robert and get his scooter started and come on down from Indiana... let's get this party started!!!!! Ha, ha, ha.... enjoy and ride safe.... Gordon

Here is the deal from my wife and there are two options. The best part is you don't have to deal directly with the Econolodge and haggle over a discount! It is pretty self-explanatory. Basically, they get the best rate possible off the standard rate. Should save a few dollars for all us poor biker-types. After all, we couldn't afford Hardley's!
1. Call 1-877-240-2929 select sports desk ( I think it's option 2) tell them to give the LPGA Code : 00213240 and the hotel of choice Econo Lodge (GA209) - that's the hotel code to make sure they are listing the correct one. 619A N. Grove St. , Dahlonega, GA, US, 30533 Phone: (706) 864-6191 Fax: (706) 864-9601 2. Go online to Choice Hotels - under where you would put in location click on Enter your special ID ... which is 00213240 then click Yes, LPGA. and then enter in Dahlonega, GA and the dates and the Econo Lodge comes up...select significant discount rate and it should come up $42.50 Doing it either way should come up with that price. Which saves you about $8...but rates go up as with any hotel the closer to the date, but it won't go up that much given the seasonal rate is around $50 for that hotel.

Ok, so it looks like the Econolodge is the place, the discount is set - THANKS RYAN! - Should somebody call the place and request rooms facing the back parking lot? Smoking/non smoking rooms? I have never made reservations before- the wife usually takes care of those things but she is staying home. Is anybody rooming together? Don't worry I'll keep my toga on.

I just booked online to test it, and it worked great! The Thursday rate was $42.50 and the weekend rate was $51 (I think). I think the regular rates were $46 and $56 or something.
There is a comment field for special requests online. I asked for ground floor but didn't ask for the back parking lot. If you get tired before the rest are ready for bed, it may actually be a blessing to be on the other side!!!!!
