Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Nope. Warran-tee'ed -- yee hah!
Triumph apparently has a term called "Goodwill Claim" or the like for these issues.

So are the igniters serviceable, or are they potted? Sheesh, you'd think someone would know the answer to this!

The Speedmaster igniters are sealed units, and it is my strong belief that dealers can not service them.
Perhaps Gill could, but I don't know about that.
Mine appeared to be fully water tight, and has been under cover since Fall of '08. It wouldn't surprise me if engine heat was a factor involved with its demise. I intend to rig a little heat shield for the new one at some point, if only for good luck. [see also - a to-do list of length equal to the US tax code]
Just for sake of igniter conversation, mine went down like some others did, beginning with intermittent spark failures on the right side. Some may recall this happening after a fuel up at the NY Rally last year. The bike would act up, then be fine for X,000 miles, then act up again. The issue has now migrated to the left side of the igniter. I can start the bike on the right cylinder only, and the left side is stone cold. We used to have these issues with electronic truck engines. When they work right they are a technical marvel. When they don't, one could wish for a 75 lb. engine adjustment tomahawk to appear in the the toolbox.

I do enjoy your metaphores... So that means you'll be in Bennington next weekend?

That's what happened to my '04 after changing the rear tire out. My theory: the ignitor is mounted too close to the left coil.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)
