So, I've been working in So. Fl and going home on the weekends for about 6 months now. I go home and look around.... do the deck, change bikes, work on the A/C, help the kid with his trucks electric window kit, fix the spa, clean the house, do the daughters bike, or fix the bathroom sink.... then my head wanted to explode, my heart started racing and I couldn't focus on squat. I decided to lay down and do deep breathing.... didn't work, so after 20 minutes I decided to take a little blue pill from the wifes "take one every 8 hrs as needed." Calmed down, slept for about 3 hours, and I'm OK for now. What the heck was that?

I now understand how devistating that can be.... took me 55 years to have one, and sure don't want another. Any advice?

Sorry for the wine... I'll bring crackers and cheese next time.

Really, I'd like another perspective....

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

Doesn't sound like paninc or anxiety necessarily. Please get a heart checkup. Don't screw around with that, ever. The number one symptom for most men of a heart attack is death.

Not trying to scare you but a checkup is cheap and worth every penny!

Hey Panman, I'm with Frijoli.

Get along to the quacks and get a check-up. stress ECG, blood tests etc. and do it today!!!

I experienced some form of panic/anxiety/depression a year or so ago, it didn't cause pain, just a feeling of unwellness, and the doc gave me some happy pills not unlike what you took. They didn't do much. In the end I think I just realised what was happening and dealing with it cured the symptoms. Now I firmly believe that it is not only women who experience some form of menopausal change.

Tom,

I do this for living, serious stuff do NOT ignore it. Likely one of two possible maybe a third, none should be ignored. Require more than opinions based on internet assessment. The above advice is solid, go to a Doctor. If it happens again,go right away so they can actually get a real view of it, but don't wait, give your Doc a call.

Please.

I have to agree with the rest, I have high blood pressure and if I get to hot or do to much to fast, I get the same way, dizzy and weak hard to catch my breath or heavy breathing. Head feels funny. This is nothing to mess with, can be controlled very easy, have it checked ASAP

A professional perspective is the only one that will do you any good one way or the other. If it is something minor, you will have at least gained peace of mind. On the other hand, if it is serious...

I agree with all the recommendations to see a doctor. I had a professional aquaintance/friend you died from a heart-attack out cross country skiing 2 years ago (at least he was doing something he loved at the time) but he had ignored warning sings of heart problems and his family history. He left a wife and 2 kids, and many friends wishing he had paid attention to the early warnings.
Don't be that person!!!!!!

We might actually miss you!

Mark, I knew I could count on you for the right prescription! I was at the Dr. for a checkup a couple of months ago... BP is under control and all the other stuff checked out. I REALLY want to thank you all for the good advice, but now I'm one of the lucky workers without health insurance, and my Dr. cut me no slack on my last bill. $100 just to wait 1 1/2 hours to see him. Then the $200 lab bill showed up.... I checked the BP again, and it's still in the norm range.... I know it's stress, guess I better try something to get it lowered (other than the bacon!!)... Maybe my lotto ticket will hit tonight! Then it's off to Tahiti where the women wear grass skirts with no tops!

If it does happen again, I'll go right away to a walk in or ER. Don't want to check out prematurely, whenever that is...

later, Tom.

Now that I finally got internet and a laptop where I stay during the week, I'll be able to post a bit more....

But, what do I know?

It could be a multitude of things, and if your doc ignores you, I'd suggest a second opinion. You could just be hypoglycemic, or prone to heart problems. Either way, your dr. will tell you. Get to it.

That's no reason to gamble with your life. I have no health insurance either, but i have found that most doctors offices will accept as little as $25.00 a month... even if it's for the rest of your life!

Hey Tom,

All Joking aside, my boss had a similar thing happen to him at 59. He went to get checked, they hooked him up to an electro cartiogram and it turns out his heart was fibirlating. They defibed him in the hospital and all seemed well for a while until it happened again. Now hes got a pace maker.

Almost there John.
What it needs is some egg.
Cook about five in a large skillet like the first step in an omelet, then roll it around the bacon/cheese and cover with hollandaise sauce.

Dude... you guys remember the bacon explosion a guy here in KC came up with? Oh holy crap. Every bbq place in town started making it. It's the same concept, but better adding sausage instead of cheese. By the way best bbq in the nation Kansas City, MO.
