Hello all, ive been procrastinating on putting on the pods on my bike because my bike runs so good now i really dont want to mess with it. Are the gains from modded up airbox(snorkels out, K%N filter, hole cut in the bottom) to the pods that much better or is it minimal? Thanks

I don't think it's a huge gain but I would do it again.

If it runs THAT good , don't mess with it . If ya add pods AKA "Freak" you'll hafta re-jet and it will use more gas and be cold natured and maybe a little cantankerous . The engineers at Triumph knew what they were doing , we just sometimes want to tweak them a little . I got a little more Umph out of mine , but not all that mind-blowing . Save your 400.00 , just buy some chrome .

Mine is not cold natured or cantankerous any more than it was before the pods and neither is Wendy's bike. just have to get it jetted right.

Rejet, well sure. As for the other stuff, no, not if done properly.
The engineers probably did know what they were doing, & from my perspective it wasn't for performance.

All I can say is that mine runs better now with the pods and staintune pipes than at any other time. Yep, you have to tune but I like tinkering anyway and as far as using more juice, well my mpg is very much the same unless of course I use the extra torque available. Each to their own
Staintune Pipes, K&N Pods, 45 pilots, TBS needles and 145 mains.

I had a modified airbox for a couple of years (UNI filter, no baffles, cut out bottom and double bell mouths) which worked very well. When I did the BB this winter I went to K&N pods. Because of multiple changes to the set up it, is hard to say for certain, but I do not see any big advantage over the modified airbox. It does seem to be quieter now though, with the bottom out of the airbox it was like a hoover.

I did the freak kit from a stock airbox and it was a huge change for me. I wouldn't go back either. Of course I can't because I hacked the ever living s*** out of my airbox too I posted before and said I would save the $ and get the carb brace and K&Ns-as long as you're handy with making a back mud guard or keep the back of your airbox like some people have done for that. I agree the Triumph engineers must know what they're doing-but they have to meet a lot of regulations. And regulations are made for breaking

Does anyone have a preference for the Freak over the airbox removal kits from British Customs, TPUSA or vis versa?

DO NOT GET THE ONE FROM BRITISH CUSTOMS!! Unless you don't want to use the cheese graters after, the brackets line up like shiznit. That being said, I really like Sean, and they are always a real pleasure to deal with, but the screw holes in their brackets miss by a ton.
