I just came across these pics of a recently completed project over on the Jockey Journal, which started as a 2007 Scrambler. IMHO that is a very neat hardtail conversion on a late model bike, and really looks sweet!

WOW!!! MHO is that YHO is spot on, mate!!!  Yep, I have to say I think that's just about the best lookin' custom old school bobber using a new school Triumph motor I've seen yet!!! 
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I really like this one. Has that old school look. Reminds me of my 58 dirt track bike a little.

everything but the bars in my book. Very clean. Mid pegs seem annoying with that seat position, but I guess forwards are illegal in the "real" triumph custom world?

Believe me from experience, mid controls help you get your weight out of the seat easily and in a hurry when you can see a painful bump/pothole coming!! Very important on a rigid...

I have several rigid frame bikes with forwards, I just run 10 PSI in the rear tire for cushion.

eh, my bikes practically a hardtail, with the way I have it lowered. Even with forward controls I stand up when I see big stuff coming.

Off topic, but what is the best tire for riding in such a manner? I tried reducing the rear tire psi on my first rigid build in '84 and hated the 'give' when cornering hard... very unsettling.
With the number of rigid builds and riders out there, it seems like a niche market waiting to happen for the first manufacturer who could combine performance with low pressure comfort in a rigid specific tire.

If you have a hardtail, I don't think you're looking for cornering performance...

What ever I could get free!  funny but true, the one I ran mostly was the red one I have posted here and with that long springer it made very little difference what tire I had on the back.
