I have read both threads, and as somewhat of a Trekkie, I would have to say that this movie easily outdistances the "new" Star Wars Trilogy and anything else that I have seen in this genre lately.
I loved it that the Enterprise, finally, didn't experience failure in every major system at the first sign of trouble.
I loved it that Capt. Pike was still injured saving cadets.
I hated it that the ship's engineering area looked like it was designed by the White Star Line in 1910.
