Lynn and I saw the flick Friday. Very nice. Great character development. So just when did Captain Christopher Pike get to the point of wanting to be in the menagerie?

Ironic how Pike still ended up in a wheelchair. I guess Vina and the Talosians will just have to do without him.

I haven't seen it yet, but are you saying that the storyline or part of the original storyline from the pilot episode made it into this movie?
Yes, the answer to my trivia question is "Matt Decker". Interesting that both died or sacrificed themselves.

No more! I must be in the only place in the US where the movie is not playing. Quote:

Definatly!
Just saw it, and thought it was AWESOME!!! I am a trekie, yes I said trekie!! The only problem I had is the Spock Uhura thing... but it is only a minor thing. I hope there are many more trek movies in the future.

Just Got back from seeing it! I really liked it a lot! I really don't consider myself a hard core Trekkie..... I'm more of TNG fan having kinda missed out on the older ST but was familiar with the characters...... A definite thumbs up!

Just got back from seeing it with my wife. We both thought it was an excellent spend of the $15 entry fee. Good thing it was the matinee, regular cost was $9.50 each. Either way, I like it! Spock was the best character I thought.

I saw it last night. I've seen all the TV shows and all the movies. There's good and not so good in all of them. I thought the movie was great. Looking forward to more. We can now go another 30 years without really old guys like me on the ship.

Things ended well, but I'm not sure I cared for the vehicle that got them there.

Saw it this evening with the wife. Pretty good, far better than the new Terminator movie I saw last night, don't waste your cash on that one.
The trailers for District 9 looked great, as did Sherlock Holmes. I love those Brit sci-fi movies as of the last few years.

I have read both threads, and as somewhat of a Trekkie, I would have to say that this movie easily outdistances the "new" Star Wars Trilogy and anything else that I have seen in this genre lately.
I loved it that the Enterprise, finally, didn't experience failure in every major system at the first sign of trouble.
I loved it that Capt. Pike was still injured saving cadets.
I hated it that the ship's engineering area looked like it was designed by the White Star Line in 1910.

I loved the more industrial look of Engineering, too. I also love the changes to the overall ship design. Looks like a real hot rod compared to the original ship.
