Well It looks like I wont be getting one after all, the folloing information is from a motor industry magazine interview with Stuart Garner.
The 961 Commando is currently being productionised and should be avalible within 1 year.
The Britishness of the bikes is reinforced by UK sourcing of all possible parts ( the factory is next door to the Spondon frame factory that he Co owns)
No dealers are to be appointed, sales and service will be at the factory, for USA, Australasia and Continental Europe there will be import agents appointed.
Prices will not be at the lower end of the market.
Garner likens the future of Norton not to another bike company but to that of car manufacturer Morgan, full order books and a list of customers who are happy to wait.

I toured the Morgan factory last summer myself and although it is excelent and very interesting the cars start at £30.000 over here and there is a waiting list of a year or two. so looks like the Norton will be out of my reach

On the plus side the rotary will be racing this year at The TT and I also hope at the NW200 next week.

looks to me that they kept the same design on the Commando as the prior owner in Oregon designed. It looks like an overpriced Thruxton with a weird "Flare" to it.

If this bike is anywhere close to what Kenny Dreer built it will flat out haul a$$.

Sorry Dave, but THAT particular "designer bike" IS friggin' GORGEOUS!!! And, UNLIKE all those OTHER "designer bikes" with their stupid 250 to 300 tires out back AND those stupidly looooooooong front forks they put on almost all of those V-Twin "designer bikes" presently out there, this new Norton would actually be FUN TO RIDE, and NOT just to "look cool on" while riding from Pub-A to Pub-B!!!!

(that IS of course IF, as this report claims, they stay very close to Kenny Dreer's original concept!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

All I'm saying is that this is remarkably similar to what Indian is doing. Make one bike that appeals to a very small market, limited production, and very expensive? Norton could do so much more, but instead, they will eventually go under. That's sad, because the revival has been so long in the making. BTW, I don't question its capabilities as a badass race bike, or a fun ride!

So many cool bikes..the new Indian and that Kenny designed Norton... being a daily rider dude, it looks like I'll just be sticking with Mr. Bloor's models....they are affordable , bullet proof and stylish...I've had three (3) from the Hinckley factory and loved them all. I'll dream of Indians and Nortons but will ride my Trumpets
