I've been using the MFR for a few years now. Clean and easy. No gunk build-up, road grime doesn't stick to it, and it's invisible.
As to rivet vs. clip master links - a lot of chain driven racing/sports machines use clip links. Not for security, but for ease of replacement. For security, you use a riveted master link. That clip has to flex to engage the grooved pin. Squeeze enough lube out of a sealed chain (what is erroneously called "stretch") and that clip can just as easily disengage.
