Nah, not much trouble, heaps of fun. The motor needed reco, but block wasn't worth it. Had seen too much salt water.
Next option the reco mob had a 307 block bored to 4", then got 350 crank, bit more lift cam, then threw it all together. Had our heads recoed, was the cheapest way out. Ended up about 11:1 compression ratio, idled nicely at 600rpm and would rev to 7000 with no load, but the prop and hull wouldn't let it get over 5500 when under way.
A boat is a hole in the water you pour money into, so always aimed for best results at cheapest cost.
Plus the best bit was I built it myself, and get heaps of satisfaction every time I take it out.
