Just curious if anyone has one of the Shark Evoline modular helmets? If so any note worthy Pros and Cons? The one thing I think is interesting about the helmet is that it was designed to be used as either a full face or 3/4 helmet. The modular part flips back almost 180 degrees and locks in so you can ride with it in a 3/4 helmet configuration. Tom

The guy at Helmet Harbor does a video review of that helmet, for what it's worth: http://tinyurl.com/crujpqI know I've mentioned Helmet Harbor a couple of times. have no affiliation with them, just have used their website for info regarding me getting a new helmet. Jim F

I bought one of these at a show last year and it's performed well. Ideal for me because I commute on a Honda CBR 600 and keep the America for pleasure riding so I have the best of both worlds. The helmet performs well but the strangest part is the strap fastening which I have never seen before - it slides through and locks on a tratchet type arrangement so you just pull through until its tight enough and it locks itself. I understand that the chinpiece on this helmet is rated as the most secure on the market. Hope that helps.

Shutterbug, The review say's it all and thanks for that link. I have several helmets and I have issues with every one; too hot, too heavy, poor aero dynamics, etc. etc. Right now my favorite is an HJC Symax II and it's a flip up type. I always ride with the chin-bar down, but it's nice not to have to take it off to talk to someone. Just flip the bar up and conversation is very audible. Riding a BA., that's important because of all the questions you have to answer. It could use more venting and it's a little tight on my cheek bones after a while. Other than that, most of my complaints are just me winein. The price was very reasonable at around $250 or something well under $3. The Shark looks interesting, but check them all out if you can, before you plant the big bucks.

Hi Chip.....been there, done that with a number of helmets. Right now I use the HJC Open Face style. The HJC's seem to fit my head best of all. I've tried on their Full Face Carbon Fiber AC 12 a number of times in the showroom.....mighty tempted. Got a good write up here.... http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/hjc/carbon/

I was looking at the same. I like the versatility as well, being able to ride with it pulled back. I have a Nolan 102 now and like it a lot but you can not ride at speed with it open. The price is salty on the Shark but I hear from others the quality is good. I liked the fit when I tried it on as well.

i have had issues with every helmet i own as well. my Nolan being the most frustrating of all of them.
i tried on a Shark Evoline. it was really comfortable from the start. though so was my Nolan. the guy at the shop told me i should test ride the Shark. this is something i have been trying to make time to do. i need to test it on both the America and the Street TripleR. no point in spending close to 5bills if it is only going to be comfortable enough on one bike.
when and if...i will let you guys know how it handles speed, etc.

Well I have decided to look at full face helmets instead of modular. The main reason being that all modular helmets tend to be noisier than full face helmets. Also another big problem is that most of the modular helmets that I like (Shark Evoline) have poor ventilation, and in Florida you need great ventilation. Here is a interesting video regarding the top 5 helmets on the market. Helmet Harbor comparison of the top five helmets Tom
