I'll keep it quick.
Got the bike back with the newly install handlebars.
While moving the bike, the throttle assembly became loose
from the bars.
So, I slide it back into place, and tighten up the two allens for all they're worth.
And everything seemed fine.
Now, when I twist the throttle, it doesn't snap back into
'rest' postion. And the twist doesn't feel fluid.
What the heck did I do?

Mikey,
when I fitted my new Carlini Super Sweeps I found that the throttle cables ended up being too tight causing the same symptoms as which you've described. I just back the cables off till they were slack and then readjusted. All was good after that. Hope this helps.

Manual says tighten upper clamp bolt to 15nm then tighten lower clamp bolt to 15nm.

On the stock bars you had to maintain a very slight clearance between the throttle grip and the end caps on the bars or it would do exactly what you describe.

Another possibility could be you say the're new bars, hopefully there isn't a bend in the bars where the throttle assembly is, just a thought to cross off the list...

I had that for a ride. The pain starts in your hand, then wrist, all the way to the shoulder on back... I had a free cruise control tho... hahaha

When my bike sits in the sun my throttle sticks and I get cruise control. Anyone else have this? Sometimes on the ride it cools and starts to work normally again.

Mine did this too. It was not a cable or sleeve issue. The stock handlebar end cap was rubbing on the rubber grip. I removed the end cap, used a graphite lube on the end cap where it was touching the grip. I also removed some burrs from the grip with a very sharp knife. Smooth as silk now!

Mine has done the same thing. It happened Sunday, first time in a couple of years. Two years ago I removed the end cap and slightly trimmed the end of the grip where it touches the end cap. I was surprised for it to happen again. May have to revisit the situation.

No trimming required.
Loosen the 2 clamp bolts mentioned above and slide the assembly away from the end cap about 1.5 pubimeters....
Retighten clamp bolts as mentioned above.

Check you throttle cables as well. They may be in a bind or just a sharper than usual bend. You're carb spring is what pulls the grip back to zero. If those cables are in a bind just a little, it will cause your symptoms. I've went from my factory buckhorns to 24" drags to now 30" drag bars. It all just takes some fine tune adjustment of cable routing, grip clearance, and fudging.

Yup, seen this many times on Harleys also. The end of the grip is tight against the end of the bar.

make sure when you tighten the screws the whole lot did not move and the throttle is actually touching the end of the bar and stopping it returning.... I have done that....

She is twisting clean, and snapping back to rest position now, just fine. I had to loosen the housing, and give the whole lot a slight rotation away from the bike.
