Well I thought I got a great deal on a brand new custom factory gas tank and fender kit (Checkered Flags). It listed for $850.00 and I got it for $250.00. The problem is that I installed it with a nice new Pingel Petcock and flush mount gas cap, the problem is that I don't know if I like it or not. I also installed the heritage tank badge kit. I will have to take it out and get some other opinions but right now I am saying

Post some pics, you'll get plenty of opinions here. And if every one tells you it's great and you still don't like it, sell it for what you paid and do something you do like. Make yourself happy first!

$250??? You got a deal there.... Just keep an eye on the paint inside the neck.

I broke a front fender and wanted my dealer to order me one. He offered me a deal (good, but not as good as yours!!) on the custom tank with the US/British flag combo for actually not much more than the new fender was going to cost. Relatively speaking, I guess. Once you start spending in the hundreds what's a few more?

Anyway, I didn't think I'd like it either. But I got loads of compliments on that new tank and I like it myself now. It's different.

Our bikes are still dirty from winter storeage, screw the wash and wax we went riding. Didn't end up going for a long ride we stopped at the state prison to visit my friend and ended up there for 4 1/2 hrs. I wouldn't leave before visiting time was over. All in all was a good day, still got in 100 to 150 miles and ate at Texas Roadhouse.

I like it but I think because of the paint I would like the grid style badge. It would fill that round gray/silver area better.

I like it too. I think it would look better in black than the red IMHO, but I may be biased. Looks good though, something different.

I wish I could say that it is growing on me but I can't. I have gotten alot of compliments on how good it looks from alot of my friends and such, in fact alot of people thought I got a new bike but all I did was the fender and fuel tank.

Have no doubts my man... it looks fantastic! It really does. There is a surreal 3D look to it that makes it totally unique and artistic. It looks professional, not amateuristic and intentional. To me, it shouts individuality and vision. You should be proud!

I am not a fan of that color, but even having said that I like it.

I think the only detracting factor is the choice of fill color behind the tank badge... continuing the theme with one of the checkered flag colors (or continuing the checkered flag motif itself) would have been much better in my opinion.

Agree with Ian the tank badge throws the whole thing off, change that & see what you think then.

I still gotta say I really like that tank and fender. If you find you just can't live with it, I'd be glad to take them off your hands.
