we'll be rolling the section of 209 between 80 & 84. Famous road and all.
And we'll be crossing the Bear Mountain Bridge! I likes old bridges.

Greg and I road over the Stevenson Dam on route 34 over the Housatonic river last year. It was either late at night or early in the morning. The coffee and donuts I had at the Sloatsburg, NY Travel Plaza had worn off by then. did I mention that is was a COLD ride?

Being as how you are in the very NW corner of CT (only about 65 miles from New Haven), we'll most likely pass. preciate the kind offer to leave the light on though!

Did we? Must have been dark at the time. Either that or I was paying more attention to the traffic than the scenery (that's my story and I'm sticking to it ).

Surely you remember that dark, extremely twisty narrow road and the major 90 degree turn at the river...

I remember the turn that came up pretty suddenly. Was that on the way up or on the way back?

There's a 90 deg turn on both sides.

Well if you guys happen to find yourselves near NYC around midnight at any point...give me a call. I get off of work at that time and have plenty of couch/floor space and know all of the bartenders in my neighborhood. Can't remember the last time I paid for a glass of 101.

We are thinking about staying in Milford PA or Bear Mountain State Park, NY Monday night. I'll ask if a big city field trip night is in order, after we roll 500 miles with Foam Hedge, the yuengling brewery, a windmill farm, and the Milford Diner are behind us. Actually, we are routing around that megalopolis. Preciate the offer. Who knows, tween you and Bucky we could take weeks to get to the NH rally!

hisandmineormoreminethanhis being greg is a night owl and me the dawn/dusk type. ya could say it was greg's fault though he gets out front and come heck or highwater rooooollllllls. that leg of our trek was one of the betterer ones ever! our arrival that a.m. set new mark. the closest i got fo that was birmingham, al, hum, seems like the sumatra java says there have been other occasions too, manymanyotheroccasions.

Was that the road we were on after the chewed up highway construction in CT (right before we got to New Haven)? The road was a little damp and I was still on my neededtobereplaced front tire. Plus it was dark, we had been riding ALL day (left South Boston, VA around 7am that morning) and the local drivers seemed to be crowding us (to be polite). I remember that part of the ride quite vividly now. The uneventful miles fade from memory pretty quick but the ones where there's a bit of a pucker factor stick with ya for a bit. Definitely would have been a better road in the day and on better tires.

Ah yes you got it! But the funerer pucker factor ride was when we were ripping up the side of the mountain to Little Switzerland day one from chy's.

So. Nigh on 10 days till I get underway. If nothing like that precipitates goosebumps, the 31st of February's Morning Dew dripping from my zumo this morning did.

I know we haven't talked about it yet but is the dyno place close by? I'd like to see how my bike is running so I can dial it in a little better. Is the place close by or could you maybe just point a couple of us in the right direction?

Sorry, should have replied to your post and not Chy's, so yes Rob, I'm talkin' to you.

For some reason, when I read your post I had this image of you doing a Robert DeNiro "You talkin' to me, you talkin' to ME!" impression. I know, I know, NH - NY, two totally different places/accents, the image just popped in there.

I thought he was asking Chy too. Which conjured up images of another noonish oil change.

No oil changes on the road this year. Running fine right now but I want to analyze it a little better than by "seat of the pants" method (even though that's working pretty well so far). I put TBS needles in it but I haven't checked to see if I'm still running lean. Getting more popping than before (pre-BB) on decel but I'm not too worried about that. No backfiring like I had last year and I haven't seen/smelled any fuel leaks but I haven't run it enough to see if I'm burning oil like I was last year. Only getting around 120 miles before I hit reserve (use to be around 140 consistently) but that is somewhat expected with the larger displacement. I'm hoping that optimizing the power curve will help the engine run a little more efficiently and improve the mpg a fraction.
Current setup is:
152.5 main
45 pilot
TBS carb needles
3.5 turns on air screws
904cc
K&N filters with no airbox
Epco pipes (48")

Update: plugs look better after TBS needles than with standard needles. Yes, I used new plugs. Going for a ride in a few minutes.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tires are still fine too. The rear only has about 6000 miles on it and the front has about 3500.

OK here's the revised plan...many want to run the Kanc. on Friday and thats great! I have to collect bugs Friday and thought I might make a afternoon short run...However...
After much thought...well not really...but I have decided to add yet another option to the list of planned routes available for the Friday ride...

Those who wish, may ride along, AC will follow chase in my Truck...we will ride to Gloucester MA via some nice roads...Stop by the Gloucester Fisherman... Perhaps we can hit Bearskin Neck in Rockport MA...this is some of my FAVORITE Haunts from my days as a MASShole...Gloucester/Rockport offer the quientessential New England Sea Side flavor and although not a New Hampshire trip it IS New England...it will be about 2.5 hours each way and we must collect some seaweed from the shore as well as the bugs themselves...

The map can be found HERE

So what is the riding plan for the weekend. Cathy and I are planning on both taking friday off. I haven't been to the Kanc this year yet, who's leading that run?

if you're going to Gloucester...head on over to Lowell and show everyone how "lovely" and "quaint" of a town it is. Or just stop by a bar in Lowell called the Old Court...I "know" a bartender there...
