I'd bet those vettes wouldn't walk away from my 500 lb. (=/-), 74 bhp 1972 H2 from 80-130+ mph!
Don't remember racing against many 2-strokes, but I used to slaughter the 900 Kawas (Z1). From a standing start, they'd pull about 5-6' ahead, then I'd catch em by the time we hit 20 mph or so. By triple digits, they'd be several car lengths behind and gettin' smaller in the mirror. Honda 750s, Triumphs (sorry), Nortons, etc. wouldn't even get me off the line. Top end in the BB Vettes I built was always well above 150 mph. Used to go huntin' for whaletail Porches, tell 'em I was runnin' a 350 when they caught up at the next light. Dang, I could do that all night for $5 worth of gas too. Incidentally, these weren't radical 1/4 milers with tunnel rams and 5.33 rear ends. My approach was to use a 454, build it for torque and gear it tall (by racing standards), usually 3.70. Most of these had automatics too, to save shift time. That was my formula for the street. I only visited the dyno twice, but both times exceeded 500 ft/lbs. That's not enough to win every race, but it'll win most.
