I know this has come up and no one ever really knew the answer so here it is ! If you have a 08' bike with the new style tank you can install the old style( it bolts right up. The fuel injection is the only model that will cause problems. My bike is an 08' with carbs and I bolted the old style on just fine. If you look under the tank of a 08' there is lots of space on each side for the following year fuel injection but the 08 is still unchanged.
