I gave one a close look recently. They seem like a great bike and get pretty favorable reviews.

I had a Wee Strom briefly last year. Just a couple months. I thought it was a great bike for the money. That 650 has some grunt and did fine in all situations. It also gave an average 62 MPG which is pretty incredible compared to the America. The bike does have kind of a high profile that can make freeway driving a little blustery. I never got to test it's off road abilities but I know people that say they are great. I only sold it because my spent spine could not handle it, a fate I fear may befall the Triumph soon.

EDG1911, I have an '06 WeeStrom and it's absolutely a fantastic bike. I've put close to 14K miles on it and have never had any real problem with this bike. I commute on it, as well as tour. Great handling all-around motorcycle. My only problem is not related to the bike at all; I have pain at the base of my neck that bothers me - so I am looking to move over to a cruiser type motorcycle. However, I have riding buddies tell me to buy a new helmet from Shoei, because it's lighter than what I currently have (older Shoei RF900). I guess that might be a solution, but anyway I'm getting off the point; I think you cannot go wrong with the VStrom 650 if you are looking for a standard "do all" type motorcycle. JMHO.

Here is a picture of my bike when I was riding down PCH 1 from Monterey to Orange County. Pic is at Carmel (boy, now I know why all the rich folks live there!)

I've added all sorts of "farkles" to it, including SW-Motech detachable sideracks with GIVI E21 cases. A Magstad adjustable set of brackets for the windshield is highly recommended - unless your into wind buffeting.

After reading my post, I realized that some might wonder why so little miles for a bike I've had for over 3 years. Reason is simple; I have a young son at home, and I decided over a year ago to significantly limit commuting by motorcycle. Just too many crazy and/or distracted drivers here in Southern California. Anyway, I'm sure this is a topic for another thread, so I'll stop here.

Thanks for the responses.

I came from a UJM('79 CB750) when I got my Speedmaster. Have spent close to a thousand bucks trying to get comfort and ergos right but I have to face the fact that a UJM is what I really like. Utilitarian and sporty all at once.

I get buffeted on my Speedmaster because I'm 6'4"(Hate the way a shield looks on a Triumph twin so the fly screen at least gets some pressure off the chest.) so I should be able to get over any of that with wind screen mods on the wee..

I wish I could buy one without selling my Speedmaster but maybe one day I'll get another one. Hopefully by the end of this year I'll be on a wee.

OCRider...lookin' good..wish we lived closer we could swap bikes for a few days just to see. I understand your concern about traffic....I'm lucky to live in an area where the traffic is pretty reasonable. 40-50 miles in any direction and I'm in another situation however.

ROUNDZ...My back hurts riding my Speedmaster so I can only imagine how much it would suck to have a spinal injury.

Speedmaster05...I was all set to get one of the new BMW F800GSs but after seeing some initial reports of the bugs being worked out of the new frame and engine design and taking into consideration my financial situation the wee makes alot more sense and from all I've read really seems to be very reliable....and as has been posted on those other websites there are Suzuki dealers all over and the parts are much cheaper should it need any.

This one looks sweet:

COOPZ over at Stromtrooper.com from Australia. I think I'll get black but the dark red/maroon looks ****** good.
