Hiya, folks -- question for those with bar-end mirrors... how'd you get them attached? With those stupid plugs in the ends of the bar the expanding gizmos don't fit. I'd like to use CRG-style mirrors, but before I get too deep in I'd like to see how other folks have done it.

So, has anybody put CRGs on?

I had CRG Hindsight LS's on my Speed 4; they clamped directly on the bar, which required approx. 3/8" exposed bar for the clamps, & necessitated moving the controls inward by that distance.

Yeah, I had 'em on my SV650 and they were GREAT! Best mirrors I've ever used.

I'd love to get 'em on the speedy, but those bloody bolts that are welded in the ends of the bar -- you'd think they'd make the job easier, but they don't! I'd swap out for a completely hollow bar, but I already went and had this one powdercoated...

I'm wondering if the best fix wouldn't be to have a couple of 7/8" bar-ends milled that accept a bolt that screws into that nut -- that would be the most elegant fix, I think, but I've NO idea how much that would cost (milling an aluminum disc the right diameter to accept the mirror clamp).

Any guesses? Some of you guys are machinists -- got an idea?

Perhaps you could adapt a CRG adapter, so to speak, by cutting off the bar-plug, & then drilling the center (if necessary) to accept the correct size bolt to fit the OEM bar end nut...
