If you are talking about the shroud over the horn, you may be able to remove it, but you would lose some of the tone and possibly some of the volume. I have been down this horny road before. I have about 5 or 6 horns that I have bought and tried and the bottom line is this: the only way to get the volume and tone needed to be heard is either an air horn or dual (hi/lo) electrics.....

Do you have a concept on the amount of liquid bread it takes to reach this altitude ? Tonight was a delicacy ... Home made beef jerky as an a appetizer, dining guide award winning burgers at the local pub for absorbtion, church ladies home made peanut brittle for dessert ... And now, a cutie to love me to sleep ... Yeah ...

Thomas, Yes I have the concept....... This morning while rising from the kitchen sink, the cupboard doors opened and engulfed my head. I turned right to avoid the whole situation and ran into the refrigerator which afforded a good chin rest to watch a basket of bananas. And I haven't smoked that crap since 1983.

Tatkin, all jokin aside, I removed the "horn" from a Pep Boys highway blaster horn, sounded like crapola. Too buzzy, not louder. And it was HARD to get off. Had to cut it into a million pieces.

Warren - Happy Birthday....! As for horns, I bought 2 Fiamm 130db horns, 1 hi and 1 lo. I bought a Fiamm Freeway Blaster, lo tone. I bought 2 Wolo chrome horns, hi and lo, similar in design to the one in the picture above. I also have a large Harley-looking horn that I bought from JCW. The Harley horn has a nice sound, but I gave up on trying to mount it. Its about 5 1/2" in diameter and weighs about 2 lbs. The Fiamm's and Wolo's, while they may be louder than stock, are still pathetic sounding, since you only have space to mount 1. The lo tones go "boop boop" and the hi tones go "meep meep" and the wheels on the bus go roun... er, excuse me.... If you could mount a lo and a hi together, you could probably get a HONK sound similar to what a car sounds like. Benny did this on his bike. I left the Wolo lo tone on my bike because it's chrome and because I got tired of playing with horns. Boop Boop...

I bought one of those, it wasn't that much louder. Fiddled with mounting it different ways, messed around with tuning screw, ended up ruining it. Never realized how weak the stock horn is til I de-baffled.

I have original stock horn on my 02 Bonnie A and she gets attention whenever I toot her at people, cars, etc. I even get the famous 1 finger salute. Had a Lot older than me Lady salute me as well as blow her horn at me.Just because I wouldn't slow down and let her pull out in front of me.
I was so much older then, I am younger than that now (Wrote By Dylan Sung by the BYRDS,)

I got my Hella horns online somewhere, from a 4x4 supply place or something... I forget. They were kinda pricey, I think like 60 bucks, but how many $20 horns would ya buy till you get there, ya know? They are big and red! But you could easily remove the cages and re-paint if you wanted. Here they are in their new location.
