I alos live in upstate NY and agree that the deer are seriously overpopulated.
They are in my yard right now as I type this, eating the birdfood from the feeders. Friggin varmits. They are the reason I rarely ride around dawn or dusk. Heck, night riding is out of the question all together.
Had a good friend cut a big one in half with his HD a few years back, he and his wife spent all summer in traction and in bed waiting for the numerous broken bones to heal, wasn't pretty. But he and his wife are back to riding. Fall off a horse, get back on, hit a deer, have a barbeque.
