Hey all, I am finally due for some tires. 20,000 km on Bridgestone's. Wow, that must be a record. I want to put on some white walls but I guess I only have 2 options.
MAXXIS CLASSIC 120/90HB-18 FRONT WWW MAXXIS CLASSIC 170/80HB-15 REAR WWW
Dunlop K177 120/90-18 Wide White Wall Front Dunlop K555 170/80-15 Wide White Wall Rear
Unless I mix up a Metz 170/80 - 15 M/C 77H TL for the rear and another brand.
Classics are not available to me at my local dealer but the Dunlop's are. Anyone with these tires please give me some feedback on their looks, performance on wet and dry vs. the Classics. I wish Metz had an 18 front WW. thanks,

I had the factory Metzlers on the front & rear. Loved 'em.
I went to a Metzler WWW on the rear, (same tread pattern as the original) and a Maxxis WWW on the front.
I feel no difference between the Maxxis and the former front Metzler. The Maxxis seems just fine, wet or dry.

I've run the Dunlops K177/K555 for a couple of years now. Have changed the rear once but still on the first front. This is a quality tire and I'm pretty sure I'll get the same ones next time. I have not had any probs in the rain with the Dunlops either. I'm sure you'll be happy if you get them! If you're prepared for the extra work keeping the white walls clean of course.

I have the dunlops also, no problems with them wet or dry. White walls are a bugger to keep clean but worth it if it is the look your after. I had to modify my front guard and get a longer brake line made up.(due to higher profile then standard) Don't have to worry about the brakeline on an America.

I got a dunlop on the back and a maxxis on the front. If the dunlop is as old as the previous owner said it was, I only got like 8-9,000 miles out of it so far with very little tread left on the bottom.
Ive had no problems yet with the maxxis, I have about 3000 on that. I had to sign a waiver at the local dealership when getting it mounted because it was a tubeless tire and not "recommended" for my bike because I have spokes.

Thanks guys for all your info. I am not sure which way I am going to go but this does help. I just might end up going over the border because of the pricing. Dunlops here are 393 plus install 127. I am not sure about state pricing.

Hey Don. I'll give you a call early in the week.
Anyone, Are you suppose to change out your bearings when you change your tires. I was talking to a sportster owner yesterday and he said that changing tires and bearings go hand in hand.

I went with the Dunlops WW and they are a beautiful tire. However I forgot the measure how high my front fender mount was off my front tire seeing that it has to be raised. Could someone please tell me how much space is suppose to be between the mount and the tire or how how high the fender is suppose to be away from the tire. Please and thanks.
