Yeah! But with one major difference here Dave! MY friggin' opinions are based on PLAIN SIMPLE COMMON SENSE, and NOT on what some friggin' priest, minister, rabbi or ayatollah has told me to think!!!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Dwight, my friend, Larry constantly uses assorted variations of Godwin's law, aka "the law of Nazi analogies".
I have expanded it to be the "law of boogeyman analogies".

This is a tactic used by people who cannot make a valid point. so they invoke some Boogeyman to try to incite in others the same fears that they themselves have.

Some of us enjoy making sport of them. I know, I know, it's rather cruel. Kind of like poking sticks at the monkeys in the zoo until they throw poo at you, and then laughing. But it is still fun, albeit in a rather sophomoric way.

(The smirk means that I hope that wasn't too subtle)

In the immortal words of Gary Cooper...."Yep".

(okay...I guess that's just one word, ain't it?!)

Booyah! My Alamo complex is kicking in as I watch the sharks circling old Larry, so I might as well tilt this thread all the way into full lockdown mode!

Dwight, your posts are highly entertaining to read, but you have perhaps the least effective debating style of anyone in this thread.

Quote:

I'll betcha ANYTHING the friggin' TALIBAN doesn't tolerate homosexuality in Afghanistan EITHER, my so-called "Christian" friend!!!!

While chastising someone for the heinous crime of voicing an opinion that differs from your own, you actually infer that believing in and supporting the tenets of one's faith makes that person a bad representative of their faith.

Quote:

MY friggin' opinions are based on PLAIN SIMPLE COMMON SENSE, and NOT on what some friggin' priest, minister, rabbi or ayatollah has told me to think!!!

Once again there is the premise that your opinions are inherently valid and any opinion contrary to yours based on belief is simple parochial parroting.

Quote:

It's because THOSE MORONS over THERE have NEVER LEARNED to SEPARATE THEIR friggin' religious beliefs FROM their secular governmental instititions EITHER!!!

Here either, and it is a two way street. If you do not believe there is a precedent for the state imposing its definition of marriage on an ostensibly Constitutionally protected religious organization, perhaps you should talk to the Mormons.

Quote:

So Larry, you JUST won't drop this, WILL YA???!!! [...]AND, if you want to continue this friggin' discussion, then PLEASE GO to that OTHER WEBSITE that T-man runs...

The Taliban, like any other fascist group regardless of its core and origin, disapproves of dissenting opinion and tires to quell all such discussion when it challenges their position rather than articulating and supporting a counter position.

Quote:

H*ll, you're so friggin' BLIND that you can't see that you're JUST LIKE THEM in so many friggin' ways!!!

Physician heal thyself.

Larry: Bill's point that there are nanny elements within each party that are more than willing to impose their values on the citizenry is valid. I understand your partisan political position may skew your perception of this; "My party has good values which we are trying to share, their party wants to run everyone's life."

You would do well to articulate your position as advocating the 10th Amendment (State's rights) and religious freedom from governmental interference than stating without supporting references that the gay lobby is trying to ram their beliefs down America's throat. For instance citing the suit filed by GLAD in March of this year challenging the Defense of Marriage Act's provision that individual states do not have to recognize same sex marriages performed in other states. This is an attempt to judicially override the will of individual states. Or you could point to the recent (2008) service at Westminster Abby where two gay clergymen were married in defiance of church rules and specific orders in an attempt to force the Anglican church to not only recognize, but actually perform gay marriages, as an example of gay activism seeking to include unwilling parties in their celebrations. As it stands, you are being led down the garden path by Bill.

As to your question:

Quote:

...explain which nannies want to run your sex life and how.

America has a rich history of attempting to legislate sexual behavior; sodomy laws, interracial sexual relations laws, etc. Of such laws currently in effect and enforced are those that still ensnare folks in the BDSM community whilst engaging in particular bedroom activities... for assault no less. In many cases when neither party will make a complaint against the other, both are charged (!) (Of course I only know about this due to diligent research ya understand )

In answer to your question: Yes, we do have nannies who want to regulate our bedrooms.

Bill, I realize that you are playing to the audience here, but really, bait like this?

Quote:

...why are gay people gay?

I am a live and let live person who could care less why anyone is like they are, but if you really want to pursue this as a course of discussion, post your position and salient evidence and I will join you on the field of battle.

PS: Anyone else in this thread who feels unjustly uninsulted and left out... just let me know!

personally Gay people disgust me but that's me. As for state to state recognition of marriage, they have not been recognizing other states permits to carry for as long as I can remember so they are judically overriding that?

There have been sodomy laws for a very long time, many many states still have them on the books and it didn't apply to gays specifically but to everyone. Those laws are no longer enforced as far as I know but in many cases are still there and could be with evidence.

(As for Dwight, no one pays any attention to him and takes his posts with a grain of salt and read them more as satire! )
