Just picked up a new 2009 Bonneville (in Black) for the bride as she's ready for a bigger bike. I ran it in 30 or so miles and gotta say it's really nice. The smaller wheels make for a turn that happens RIGHT NOW and it's a total blast. Best of all-she likes it!

Very sharp bike.I like the Bonneville SE.It has the mag wheels and the front is smaller,I believe a 17".Sharp bike, but it does feel tiny, ought to handle great.

The new Bonnie is white with the brown seat is trick. The wheels, as I mentioned the other week, are gorgeous.

Did you try the Arrow exhaust? I hear it sounds great!

Yea, the Arrows are nice but $$$$$$. I'm going with British Customs when they are ready.
Took the Bonnie into the twisties yesterday-was hanging off and the bike turns so fast-almost too fast-i was a bit early in all the turns. Got it sorted out after 20 or so miles. What a hoot!

I know what you mean. I rode my BA up into the mountains last weekend and I was thinking in the switchbacks that I would rather ride my Bonneville "IN" the twisties, but given the distance and the ironing board seat I would much rather ride the BA "TO" the twisties.

I spent 12,000 miles on my 07 America and found that it'll whip around the twisties with the best of them. I ground down the small nut that protects the floorboards in the PA hills. That bike was a great bike.

Jim, just the other day I was at my local Triumph dealership, and the owner was sayin' how nice these new cast wheeled Bonnies handled and how well the EFI was dialed in on 'em. He said to go ahead and take a ride on his demo and see for myself.

Well, I got'a say...you are RIGHT! That baby handled like a dream. AND, it seemed it was puttin' out close to 60 ponies TOO!

Yep! That new Bonnie is GREAT!!! Here's to many years and many miles of happy motoring to your wife aboard this great machine!!!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

You bought a Bonneville T-100 SE with the smaller wheels and wheel base than the standard Bonnies, right? Have heard nothing but great things about them.

Its either a Bonneville or a Bonneville SE, the T-100 is a completely /separate different model.

Man would I love a T100! From the old days when I had a 59 Tiger to now I still love the classic-ness of the old Triumphs. I am partial to the modern classics Triumph makes and look giving my TBA a sister someday.

KingofFleece-
How's your bride liking her ride? Are you letting her near the bike yet?
I demo-rode an 09 Bonneville today at my dealership's open house. I loved it- so quick. I really noticed the difference with the fuel injection. Now I just need to magically appear 8K.

She loves it. Just returned from a 200 mile ride-and she's all smiles!
It's a great little bike-quick, nimble, and good looking. What more could we want?

Best part is it fits her like a glove-and she's already leaning it down a bit!

Bought one today! Bonneville SE in black.
With the holiday weekend I need to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to pick it up. Grrrrr.

Roadster windscreen and saddlebag mounts with my $500 incentive.

What a great riding bike, I demo-ed again today, which sealed the deal. So light and nimble.

Jim- I'm exploring shock options that would lower me down another inch. I think Hagon's would do it, I just have to check to make sure they fit the 09.

My son got a SE earlier this year. It is definatly more nimble than my Speedmaster. He complains about the seat after about an hour. It feels too small for me (not that I couldn't get used to it!).

Paula,
I put Progressive 412's on for Michele. The "cast wheel" Bonnies have a shock that is 1/2 inch shorter than the T-100 right out of the crate. My contact at progressive tells me you can go down 1/2 inch from stock no problem. So that would be a 12 1/2 inch shock for a 1/2 inch lower ride. It looks like enough clearence to go the full inch but we have not done that yet.
Jim

Hey Jim!
I've put out the word in my riding circles that my America is for sale. I'd love to see it go to a woman rider. If no sale by the end of the week, I'm trading her, my dealership offered a reasonable trade number.
I've got Progressive 412s on my America- do you know if the ones on my America would fit the Bonnie?

Most likely valved a bit different inside. You could always put the stockers back on the America and try 'em-it's a simple job to switch them out-we sometimes do 'em in the parking lot if the lifts are tied up! Worst outcome is you don't like it and go with something else.

Just checked my book. Stock America shocks are 12 1/2 inch which is 1/2 inch lower than stock Bonnie with cast wheels.
Give it a try if you can. At least you'll know if you want to go 1/2 or 1 inch lower. That's assuming your 412's are stock height. Just measure from eyelet to eyelet (center) and you'll know for sure.

OH. MY. GOD. I. LOVE. THIS. BIKE.

We picked her up at 10 AM, rode until 7 PM, all around Southeast MA and up the coast towards Boston. So nimble and light and quick...I love that the front end is so tucked up under the bike compared to the America. She did feel a bit lighter on the highway, but not too light when maneuvering around big trucks. I've added the Roadster screen and Triumph saddlebag mounts. I think I'll pop on aluminum cam covers, and will add the Progressive shocks, oh, and a grab rail is on my list....
