Anyone know how much rise/width and pullback you can use with stock Speedy/Americas wiring and cables?
I have seen several people ask but no definitive answer.
Changing handlebars for various reasons seem like a popular mod
Let’s post some pics with dimensions. If we get enough info perhaps we can make it a sticky.

The Buckhorn bars from Brent at NewSpeedmastr.com work fine with stock length AMERICA cables.

Buckhorns

Measurements;
Width 28”
Rise 8.5”
Pull Back 10”
center 6”

Not sure about stock length Speedmaster cables......I think they are shorter.

I used America cables and break line with 4 1/2" rise and 1 1/2" pull back. Not sure how anyone can answer you besides tell you what they have used and how it worked out. Then judge what you want to do against that.

Thats my point Ian,I want people to share what worked for them.I want members to tell us how much modification is required for each handlebar setup.
I know the bars from Brent or Eddie will work, they already did the homework for us.
I want members to share there own findings with me and the group so we can all benefit from this info.

You may get a general idea, but what works for one may not work for all.
Tony's bars are much more upright than mine. I have Buckhorns on my '03 America. I also have Jim's (SpacerJim) spacers installed. My bars have Manic Salamander end weights in them also. End result is I have only a few inches clearance between the ends of the bars and the tank.
When I'm riding, my arms are about parallel to the ground and my wrists are straight. I also have a Windvest windshield.
To accomplish this, I had to get 4" over throttle cables and route them on the right, a 4" over front brake line, and a 5" over clutch cable. Everything has to route smoothly without kinks or strains from lock to lock, otherwise you're just kidding yourself. They will fail.

So a lot depends on where someone wants to position whatever bars they want to use.

I'm running 36" dragbars, with 6" rise and @ 4" pullback using stock America cables and brake line.

I know I was just saying you won't really get a single definitive answer.

I understand there are a thousand possible configurations. I just wondered what member’s individual setups were and how it worked out. I would like members to share there pics if possible for some inspiration and ideas. An answer that doesn’t help my situation may help someone else.

For example, I am thinking of fitting Sportster bars (30w, 5 rise and 5 pullback) I was wondering if anyone had done it and how it worked out for them on a Speedmaster. I am also wondering how much rise on a pair of baby apes with stock risers before you have to change cables and extend wiring. You my find others were wondering the same and this would be a help to everyone.
