That will be good for those sissys that can't handle the noise or vibration of a real chain.

Belts are nice but the chain is one reason why I bought my America. I just like old school stuff.

The only gripe i've got with our chain setups is the cheesy adjusters. It could be a little easier to make sure the axle is squared up.

Will that include expensive disposable aluminum pulleys?

I hear you won't have to keep it extra tight either so as not to pull back on the front pulley putting extra undue stress on that bearing.

I actually like the shaft drive on my BMW, except for checking the oil in it there is no work to maintain it.

The belt is fine for the Thunderbird, but they need to leave the America and Speedmaster alone. If I wanted to get a Suzuki or Kawasaki, I would have bought one.

apparently, though, a shaft drive gives up something like 10hp compared to the chain/belt.
I guess it would add some serious weight too.

Depending on how much cost it adds, belt drive could easily drive sales down. These bikes need an additional 200cc much more than they need a belt.

I traded a belt drive bike for my America... They come with their own set of problems and I don't wanna go back.

Oh! So they're talkin' about a belt-drive for these babies next year, huh Bill?! That's interesting. But tell us here...Any word about a kickstarter and maybe a points ignition system TOO??? (figured I'd ask THAT one for good ol' "Old School You-Know-Who" around here, seein' as how it appears he forgot to ask this earlier...right Ian?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Well I heard it from a horses mouth, so to speak. They are definitely considering it.

I have responded to this question in the kickstart thread in the custom section.

Man, I would love to have a kick starter. Also 1200cc, rear drum brake and a center stand. Not necessarily in that order, of course.

1200cc I could do, the kick starter and drum brake I can do with out.

I would love to try a belt drive on mine - I like the idea of not greasing up the chain all the time...

Chain gang member Rider of gravel roads I'd be sorely missing out 'round here for lack of the ability to ride gravel without the dire fear of belt driven contraption failure
[not to mention having a gravel driveway]
