tbh mate it wasn't more than 5 minutes work on my part to add a bit of extra packing and the washer - and that brought the volume down significantly.
bare in mind that i'm ultra ultra sensitive in terms of volume anyway (quiet neighbourhood, back luck and being an new rider) and if as Peter says they're below legal with the inner baffle in then you won't have anything to worry about. I was going to pick up a Decibel reader when we eventually get a bunch of bikes together so we can get some accurate comparisons - when we have it i'll let you know.
To put it another way, the Tridents on mine with minimal packing are still quieter than some of the pipes i've seen on Harleys and the other Jap cruisers. The tone is better though (less farting..or is that my diet).
That being said mate, the proof is in the pudding so if you're ever Midlands way (or if you're going to Dent) look me up and i'll show you with/without packing etc.
