Yeah, I did a little boxing in my yute, as well as some team sports. Boxing and water polo training were by far the most strenuous.
Some of my buds were into karate and/or jujitsu, they used to run barefoot on gravel for miles

.
I lift too. With a bum knee (60% of ACL gone with associated meniscus damage nine years ago) form is especially critical, keep calf perpendicular to floor when squatting or doing lunges. I credit the weight training with keeping my flexibility as long as I have. Well developed hamstrings help compensate for the deficient ACL.
The surgeon who put it back together gave me ten years until a steel and plastic knee. Nine years now and even though there's some pain sometimes, it's usually tolerable. Have to wear the CTi2 for a while occasionally.
MSM, glucosamine, chondroitin, vitamins, minerals, omega3s, protein supplements etc.

.
Sometimes I overtrain a bit and get a little tendonitis (like now where the pectorals attach to the humerus, too many pushups

) so just have to rest/ice the area for a couple weeks and then get right back into it.
So anyway, enjoy your training
