The brackets will lower you 2 1/2 ".....They do stick out a bit. There is a way around this and that is to move the stock brake caliper around to the bottom side of the swing arm then you could fab something up so they do not have to stick out.... I must say you do not wanna go below 3" I had the brackets and then i went with a 1/2" smaller tire....This thing is low and i drag when i tear up the twisties....or atleast i did before i totalled the bike
